Wasabi was such a good brave girl on her walk tonight! We went out of the courtyard and down the sidewalk, and then she got a little spooked by a streetcar and ran back through the front garden.
@interneteh for me it was unfettered Internet access (back at home we had dial-up) and access to the feminist blogosphere and the rise of independent PoC media. my university is pretty stodgy
Tonite I played a lot of early electronic music from the 60s & 70s. I also played 2 fellow SDFers' pieces (tob & Vector Skyline 1985). Get ready for some primitive bleeps & blops! LOL πΉπΆ

@Matt_Noyes hello spider! It looks like a funnel weaver (family Agelenidae), this is their season. (No relation to Australia's funnel web spiders who are on a totally different branch of the family tree.)
Neuroscientist Aniruddh Patel theorizes that dancing animals must:

I'm extremely pleased to launch Run Your Own Social: How to run a small social network site for you friends.
This is a guide book to running a small, tight-knit federated social network server. It comes from my year of experience running Friend Camp. It's focused largely on SOCIAL solutions, though it does touch on the technical.
I've tried to keep it technology-neutral, and it should be a pretty easy read for anyone who's been on the fediverse for a while.
Dream journal: arriving in New Zealand for some conference at a university, and trying to figure out how to get to dorm accommodations in some fussy old college much like Trinity. Taking pics of random spiders. Looking forward to touristy things, exploring the city, etc.
So rabb.it (the thing I have been using to share a screen and text chat with a room of ppl so we can watch things together) is shutting down at some point soon.
What do y'all use for this purpose? I like watching things with ppl who aren't physically nearby, and having a text chat means commentary (or other chatter) isn't disruptive. Is there an alternative to rabb.it yet?
