yeah the concept has more to do with mythology than science but it's a lazy concept is what i'm saying

like how would that even make sense from an evolutionary perspective. that's not even how bee hives or ant nests or whatever even work. they're all still, like, individuals. what if it's like one of those ant colonies where a worker becomes the new queen

just once, once, I want the sci-fi/horror protagonists to realize they're dealing with a hive mind, conclude that if they take out the central organism all the others will (instantly) die, and then it doesn't fucking happen because that's not how a "hive mind" works

@denikombucha not to mention, everyone has to get started somewhere. You consolidate power by getting all your people elected to "entry level" public office - school board trustee, zoning board, whatever. There's just no substitute for the piddly stuff
