@njoseph_1 it will need maintenance, but not necessarily new features, and the developement pace can probably be much slower.
Also, at some point you probably want to start avoiding big design changes, or backwards-incompatible changes. -

@js @gsora
then why is it that I can tell people "use email", "use the web", or "use a text editor" without them being consistent across platforms? -

TL;DR: I have ported #Wayland to #Darwin and written my own Wayland compositor using Cocoa đ

>User-friendly client that is consistent between devices.Now I'm wondering, why is it that we want apps to be consistent across devices, instead of being consistent within a device?
Like, should an XMPP client for KDE look more like XMPP client for Android, or more like all the other apps for KDE? -

@Freyaday it's been a known issue with FireWire, and when Thunderbolt was initially released, there was lots of talking about these attacks again.
AFAIK the 2 most effective solutions are:
- IOMMU
- hot glue
(not necessarily in that order) -

@trickster @kaniini I think the main problem with JS is that it's downloaded again every time you visit the website (modulo caching), so:
- it's hard to use a modified version - you'd have to get the browser to apply your patches it every time it loads it
- you don't know if the version that runs currently is the same version that you audited yesterday -

external SAS enclosure maybe? like, one of those you connect with a pair of SAS cables to your SAS card.
I think they're formally called Direct Attached Storage or sth. -
