I saw two toots today on the state of this social network. One said it had "a ways to go" because their toots about their software project don't do numbers like they do on Twitter.
The other said it felt like home because it had the most people like them.
I caution the team at Fosstodon to reflect on whether modifying your CoC to reduce the apparent protection people have from systemic oppression—either by taking language out or by cabining it—will promote your goal of a welcoming, inclusive community.
Taking a step backwards on that commitment is tantamount being more hostile to classes of people you claim to want in your community.
This is the consequence, I suppose of borrowing CoC language to create an illusion of being more than you are.
Raise your hand if you're tired of tech dipshits concocting brilliant ideas to impose on a community without input of the community, and getting self-righteous, hostile, and eventually claim victimhood, when they're challenged. 🙋

Car addicts seem to only be able to talk from a perspective of car addiction. Meanwhile, people who have or who are working on escaping car addiction seem to be able to grasp a wider variety of perspectives. As pedestrians, as transit riders, as cyclists.
You just get better comprehension and policy from people who can percieve transportation in more ways than through the windshield of their private automobile.
According to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Report on Greenhouse Gas Emissions, transportation is the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in Minnesota.
I'm alarmed because it seems mob justice is causing more and more vulnerable people in the fediverse to shrink back to avoid becoming the next target, including, apparently, admins who I like and respect, and don't blame for being wary.
They're pulling some tired harmful shit, starting with targeting the same victims because it's easy and the already have the recipe, and it's working.
If we had a standing/regularly recurring happy hour/after-work/pub trivia get together (e.g., every month, alternating between :flag_stp: and :flag_mpls: would you put it on your calendar (and occasionally attend)?
