@saxnot tl:dr; terminology helps with discovery, communication, and even normalisation.

@saxnot like, before i knew about asexuality, i thought i was broken. i thought my brain was fucked in some way. i felt inadequate. having a label for it made it easier for me to discover, look up, and identify with asexuality.
it made it feel like that part of me was...official. real. solid. not some abstract concept that couldn't be defined because it was just a defect and didn't deserve recognition.
having terms like "gray ace" helped even more.

@saxnot labeling things basically gives us a better way to communicate about them quickly and effectively. helps with educating others, finding others like us, and making our needs/wants known.
people will always refine labels little by little if broader/vaguer terms do not fit their needs/are conveying the wrong idea.
doesn't necessarily change who we are, and i don't think it's really splitting us up unless nobody can easily figure out what the labels mean.

@hoodie so many reasons to move to pleroma. the only reasons i haven't yet are
a) i'm really comfortable on chitter b/c the admins are friends and the other folks on here are friendly af
b) i hate the look of pleroma's twitter-like landing page
c) i'm not sure how the actual posting interface looks. i really like masto's web interface.
d) that's extra work
e) there's more toxic behaviour coming from pleroma instances than here -

what i most want in mastodon is the ability to have one user account that i can log into, to access multiple posting "profiles" where i can have different settings for each
so i could, say, have a kink profile and a vent profile, and both would work kinda like independent accounts from my main, but would share the same web interface and login details despite different handles and settings

@Troasta i mean, the map's not too big, so being entirely a jungle would make sense as far as real life biomes go i'd think. the map seems sillier in it's current proportions imo, though i do like it when games do silly things like having opposite biomes so close together for variety and just the sheer absurdity.
might give the mod a try if i really get into oblivion, but for now i think i'm gonna experience it as-is since it's my first time

if you want a mod like this on pc, i recommend https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/272
there's also other options if you search "alternate start" on nexusmods

multiple start points is one of my favourite skyrim mods. it allows you to both skip the boring tutorial, and not have to travel halfway across the map right off the bat just to do quests you may not have touched in a previous playthrough.

it would be a happy medium between "fast travel everywhere that has even slightly been mentioned" and "fast travel only to places you've already been" (though you could still do the latter after discovering other less important POIs on your own)

imo every major city in a TES game should allow you to fast travel to it from the start of the game for free. nothing more, nothing less. skyrim does have the ability to take the carriage to other cities but iirc they're limited, you can only go to cities you've heard of, and it costs gold (though it is fairly cheap)
but it would be nice to have multiple starting points

i'm not sure if it has anything to do with the graphics or level design or if i'm just having a hard time with my memory lately, but a lot of the dungeons and building interiors in oblivion are extremely difficult to navigate thanks to everything looking very...samey?
also, the wilderness feels pretty bare.
the game does let you fast travel basically anywhere you want to go even without previously going there so long as it's on your map, so that does help, even if it feels kinda like cheating

oh sick, oblivion has fast travel. i assumed it wouldn't for some reason because old games tended toward tediousness

the only thing i've looked up so far in regards to oblivion is where to find the map in the menu. after meeting with jauffre i decided to head to a property i have the deed for - frostcrag spire - and was happy to find portals that can teleport me various places around the map. hell yeah
too bad it doesn't have any storage (yet?) which is what i was looking for in the first place
i know i can store my stuff in jauffre's chest but i wanted a more memorable place so i don't forget

huh, the captain underpants movie was actually quite enjoyable. it felt like watching a comic book from the POV of a kid. or i guess in this case, two kids
it even did flip-o-rama which was very much appreciated
tbh that's the best i could have hoped for from a captain underpants movie, and then some.
