@kara i like singing, guitar, and drums, all for different reasons depending on the mood. though i only usually sing when i'm alone.
wish i could've gotten more practise with the keyboard/keytar though. sucks that it was phased out in rb4 apparently

how much free labour and financial help have the folks using mastodon contributed to help shape a platform as successful as mastodon?
gargron may have planted the seed, but nobody would be here and the platform would have very few features and a single instance if not for Everyone Else
if gargron thinks that this platform is entirely his to do what he wants with, maybe he should consider how many people have contributed to help with it in the ways he could never have actually achieved himself, and reconsider who owns what
how many people put in the work to convince their friends to join here, convince other members to stay and wait for this place to grow? how many people offered ideas that were implemented and inevitably attracted more users?
there is an extent where we do have to be nice to those developing the software that we use. there's also an extent where these advancements are meant to be for everyone, by everyone.
not everyone's gonna be able to code the changes they want to see in mastodon. not everyone's going to have the experience to see the problems or benefits of new features for people coming from different experiences, different walks of life.
that's why we share and communicate.
mastodon is an extension of society. it is a place where many folks from all different backgrounds come to interact, share ideas, and communicate about important and fun things alike.
just like in greater society, there are people that are better at/more interested in some tasks than others. yet we don't expect everyone we know to learn a little bit of everything just to survive.
or at least, we shouldn't expect that, especially when we benefit from others' work every day
This would be a good time for Mastodon to consider compatibility with a plugin framework.
This way, some stuff can be just hacked out and someone else can run a trending topics thing and and live their own life.
Masto isn't perfect and it's still really white, but I like it here because it has the potential to be such an awesome example of cultural collaboration is we can all just _listen to each other_
In my estimation, that is the only obstacle I can see that is hindering this platform from really taking off.
I find it really disappointing at times that there is so much resistance to collaboration simply because people refuse to believe harassment is as prevalent as it is.

@monorail there are legit "skateparks for cars" in the crew 2 though unfortunately i think they lack any bars to grind. just lots of ramps and halfpipes
just super unnerved by having at least 4 different game clients on my computer, none of which really seem to make playing games any easier.
steam, origin, uplay, and the epic games launcher
there are so many game stores/clients now and every single one is missing the entire point of why we're unhappy with existing ones
largely, money and storefronts are the huge problem. i personally want a game client that is truly cross-platform, giving everyone access to the games, and giving every developer the opportunity to share their work
i want something that makes it easier to find and play the games i like, rather than making me jump through extra hoops to play "exclusives"
last time i check but does anyone have a spare yooka laylee key they aren't gonna use? one came with the latest humble monthly if you subscribe to that but already have the game

@ctrlaltdog no wonder my dog hasn't started blooming yet
@hal oh it was you who drew the good bird pic i saw the other day! nice
hot petcare tips: make sure to keep the soil at the base of your dog moist, and keep your dog in a well-lit area with plenty of direct sunlight
