i forgot to watch the new episode until today because i've been knee-deep in terraria oops

that scene at the end of the latest episode of elementary...oh damn i'm excited for this actually

my first priority if i ever own a house is getting another dog because willow is lonely as heck

i'd love to have a bunny or two again but i can't do that unless i own a house and have the money to make a custom enclosure.

i also want to try looking after a fennec sometime, but i'd have to meet one in the flesh to decide if i could handle their behaviour and needs first. not to mention they're like $1k each in ontario and you should have more than one because social animals

@hoodie if you ever need help with understanding a word or concept i post about, i'd be happy to try my best to fill you in (or at least find a source that can do a good enough job at it)

@Sir_Boops it's probably got a better lifespan than sata ssds honestly. just more expensive, but not by much, and maybe the performance is worth it (probably not because internet speeds bottleneck it anyway, but maybe for backups and upgrades it'd be better)

@Sir_Boops also it may be non-volatile but i'm not exactly sure how the lifespan compares to other media. the read/writes of a social network may degrade it pretty quickly

@Sir_Boops i'm guessing it would be a poor use of expensive storage, and pcie/m.2 isn't exactly as easy to shift things around with as sata which is basically everywhere. may as well just use a cheaper sata ssd

not everyone has the resources and/or expertise to create their own instance if they need to, of course, but i've seen so many folks working together with their friends and other peers to set up instances and moderate existing ones to the point where it feels like those gaps are mostly filled

reminder that mastodon is a powerful and somewhat accurate representation of how a form of anarchy might work in practise; hierarchy is optional and based on a consent model rather than forced upon us.

we can join any instance/community and take part, or build our own if nothing suits us, and we can still all interact and help each other and communicate even from our own corners of the fediverse
