@Karneolius wait, really? that's...kind of interesting. i just assumed anyone following me was either someone i knew from twitter, someone i mentioned on here, or someone seeing me through a boost/the fed timeline

for example, i'm having trouble finding babyfurs on here, and none of them seem to post much because it feels slightly too public. but creating a new account on an entirely new instance is a pain, just to have a locked account to post kink stuff

so i was thinking, what if i could create some sort of group of all babyfurs on mastodon? and we could all post to a specific timeline without creating new accounts, and no outsiders would have to see it?

it'd be nice if there were like, lists that i could subscribe to aside from having to make an account on a new instance, that would work similarly but with existing accounts elsewhere

a local timeline for that list, a membership count, and the ability to hide/show users based on your preferences

plus, the lists could be locked or invite only, and have certain things like the list of members hidden to outsiders

so like...basically instances you can follow? if that makes sense?

music and writing and movies and all other media may be enjoyed and consumed by audiences, but social media differs in that it's a social environment where everyone is contributing their own words and content.

this kind of space is for a community to gather and work together and make sure everyone is able to fully and comfortably participate to the best of the abilities of everyone involved

it's a space made from collaboration, not independence and selfishness.

but these are communities that people have joined, livened up simply by existing and conversing here, have added a part of themselves to.

communties may be started by one person but they are to be run collectively by everyone involved or we are inevitably going to let people fall through those cracks. and those cracks will become fissures. and eventually someone who has amassed power over the social experiences of thousands of people, is upholding the status quo again.

you gotta realise that spaces on the internet are necessary for everyone to communicate and enjoy the internet to its fullest.

people may be able to choose where they spend time on the internet, but realistically, there are very few spaces on the internet for marginalised folk. everything is either run by white men who own companies, or white men working on free software.

this all plays into software (and tech overall) catering only to white dudes

i keep seeing people who are totally fine with the way mastodon is being run...talking about how mastodon being run the way it is, is okay.

it kinda mirrors society with the people who are upheld by society always praising it, and those who are left out/hurt by it, being the ones that actually take notice of the problems

am i to believe that the people that run any country on this planet have a right to decide what they specifically want for that country?

at first i thought it was a saw but you don't leave a saw on for 5-10 minutes straight ime

there's some sort of noise nearby that i can only guess is being made by a neighbour and it happens only in the warmer months i think. it sounds like an air raid siren and it freaks me out

@maloki @hoodie my concern wasn't the future governance of the project (that's another concern but i know it's being worked on so i just gotta wait) but i just wish i would've known "here's whoever is temporarily in charge until we better figure things out" and didn't have to learn it off-hand

need to also balance a little play in there, i did very little of anything yesterday

i've got more cleaning to do today but it's mostly less daunting than doing dishes even though it's basically "clean the entire rest of the house"

@hoodie i used past tense because i don't even know what's going on with the project so idk if my concerns still apply or what since i'm not sure if the same conditions apply

@hoodie the first question was basically just "i wanted to know who was in charge in the early stages and what steps were being taken to make it so everyone would be involved later on"

@hoodie my biggest reservations are:
1) it would've been nice to know exactly how the governing structure was working out even in the early stages with unofficial leadership
2) i still have no idea where to go to look up any information i might need on it. a website or some other central place i can visit for info would be nice. i can't do large discord groups of mostly strangers b/c social anxiety
