So, since las thursday i've been forced to use LTE for everything, because some telco-technician #$%ed up my DSL/Telephone cable while owrking on another line.

Apparently, they still haven't been able to fix it. In the meantime, my data cap for LTE has long been reached, and I've been surfing the net with ~2 kb/s for the past few days.

Let me tell you: I've gained a whole new impression of the "modern" internet. And it's not a good one.

@srol My favorite was always the "crozius" that the bishop carried, which is also literally a weapon in Warhammer 40K.

@srol @nightpool Maybe you had to reach the Secret Order of the Monks Rank VII to be told about them.

@nightpool @srol While I'm sure the sqllite team did this to be smartasses, if they actually read the list and tried to live by it, they'd probably end up being better people in the end.

@srol @nightpool I'm thinking modern religious fundamentalists wouldn't go near anything that's a creation of monks.

@sajan @signalstation While IANAA (I am not an astrophysicist), I think the physics would work the same way, just on a smaller scale. You'd have to deal with the tug of other planets and the star wanting to pull your ping out of orbit, but orbit adjustments are a necessary thing regardless of whatever it is we're talking about. Even normal rings made of rock and ice eventually dissipate, just on a much longer scale.

@signalstation @sajan This is basically the Niven ringworld, but on a smaller scale. Don't see why it wouldn't work.

@Ninjatrappeur Even better (since a GUI is necessary for this user), I'm trying to use TinyCore to boot into Abiword by default. It's my first time using TinyCore, and it's actually really neat.

@Ninjatrappeur Oh, I agree -- not having photos blasted into my eyes is always preferable to having photos blasted into my eyes.

I'm wanting to make something like this for a author in my life, and I'm actually curious about just taking an old laptop and just putting some custom linux install on it that goes directly into a word processor.

I wouldn't even need to worry about networking. :P

@nolan It's great. I've been running one for about a year on a VM that I use as a dns server.

The fact that it works for devices that you can't change dns settings on (like say, a Roku box) because its at your network level is amazing.

@staticsafe Good luck! I have not upgraded my main host with all my VMs on it to 18.04 yet, and probably won't for a good while. :p

Maybe not even until I migrate everything to another physical machine.

@masklayer Aw, that's a shame. Driver bugs should not be present on a production product from a major company. :(

How is the keyboard? I hear the yogabook keyboards are about the closest one can get to a full-size keyboard without actual keys (that's mostly usable).

But otherwise, how is it? Always been curious about usability of the yogabooks.
