@ajroach42 Would the goal be to make a movie adaptation of the original TV series, or to more specifically do what the Wild Wild West movie tried, which was to recapture the Men In Black bottle lightning?

The journal I emailed last week has not responded to me...when should I email them again? Should I give them a week?

I want to be able to submit this to another journal, because I am assuming that they are just going to reject it

    instead of "sir/madam", consider "traveller"

    - gender neutral
    - fun to say
    - acknowledges the endless journey of the soul
    - makes you feel like a medieval tavernkeep
    - you absolutely can't risk misgendering a wandering swordmaster

Spiral arms, like those of M51 here, are often sites of much star formation. This could be due to the spiral arms being density waves and the increase in density sets off star formation as the arm passes by a region of the galaxy.

The service manuals of old professional equipment are truly amazing, the schematics are shown in three different abstraction levels, every single connection is shown, waveforms at 100 different test points are drawn, every single component is listed, with step-by-step test and calibration guidelines. You can almost remove everything from the board and put it back together with a service manual.

Something that today's consumers can only dream of...

hi everyone, i feel shitty making this post but to be honest, with groceries, HRT, dog/cat food and other bills piling up it's really starting to feel like we're continually falling deeper into a hole we can't climb out of. we need $600 total but i'm not expecting anything near that. even getting like $60 would probably be enough for me to get my tags renewed to start uber stuff again!!! thanks in advance

@nex3 I'm glad that somebody else in that :birdsite: thread remembers the MST3K short which had participation trophies ("prizes fer tryin'") in 1949:

@nex3 On the "who gave the trophies out" point: I remember an awards ceremony at the end of 8th grade (so, mid '90s). I got called up again and again to receive certificates for things I had already been awarded for, like getting a prize for having placed in the statewide French-club competition. This bothered me --- I did the things for fun, and I'd already gotten the dang ribbon --- and made it pretty clear that the adults were giving us awards for their own gratification.
