@alxd True. The FICO credit score effects loan rates, insurance rates, credit availability, job searches, and ironically, if you don't use credit, your FICO score goes down. So be good little sheeple and use your credit cards to rack up much Christmas debt. (Not really!)

My daughter works at a regional(maybe national) clothing store that caters to teens and young adults. As she was checking out a customer yesterday evening, the customer lamented that she had to work on a holiday. My daughter, with a sharp wit and intellect that made the valedictorian of her high school class, pointed out that if people didn't shop on the holiday, she wouldn't have to work. Go girl!

@hhardy01 I'm not celebrating much of anything other than the fact I get 2 paid holidays and time at home with my family. I'm not very tied up in the fairy tale of the pilgrims or healing from the civil war. It's a contrived holiday whose meaning and intent are completely lost. For most it's just the day to start shopping for Christmas now.

Well, it's started. Smells are wafting through the house in preparation for Thanksgiving. There's the smell of Apple pie, cornbread for stuffing and scratch pudding. There'll be more fun and interesting olfactory pleasures coming from the kitchen for the next 24 hours. My spouses favorite holiday.
