The aeronauts appears to be an Amazon series about people who ride in balloons.

Most of me is against this, down to some very core parts of my being. I am almost wholly convinced that it is going to be really really bad.

But also, a large part of me has wanted nothing more than a proper steampunk adventure series with a decent budget and lots of zeppelins, and while I know this isn't that, a small part of that larger part is willing to give it a try.

@68km The vintage toy making set is neat, and I might talk about it at greater length in the future. It was originally for making lead soldiers. I'm going to use non-leaded solder or pewter and/or plastic to make toys with it instead.

@68km I don't drink. Had some bad food, dunno what.

The equipment that arrives today is rubber for mold making, and plastic for casting. I should also shortly receive some old molds from a vintage toy making set.

I'm also expecting some paper and ink for book making.

This week I should also get some more films, and the equipment I need to start my film archival efforts.

And I'm prepping some vintage computer repairs, too!

The protagonist from this book was later adapted in to the character Buck Rogers, which is why I read it.

I was looking for some flash of what I have come to expect from Buck Rogers in these stories, but it pretty much wasn't there at all.

I need to revisit the early Buck Rogers comic strip and figure out at which point the character evolves to become what I grew up with. Is it at the point that he adopts the name Buck over Anthony? Or is it much later?

I recently read Armageddon 2419 and the airlords of han and I regret it, honestly.

The books were racist, which shouldn't have surprised me, but I was taken aback by how forceful, blunt, and pervasive the racism was.

The books were also terribly boring. Hardly anything happens, and when it does it is usually interrupted by a long technobable explaination of psudoscience.

The conflict is toothless, and the antagonists are consistently otherred and dehumanized.

They aren't worth reading.

I fiddled with this some more yesterday and ended up crashing the game. Until it crashed, it appeared to be running pretty well.

I haven't had a chance to try it on a pi4 yet, but I imagine that will be successful as well.

@68km slowly starting to feel physically normal again. Gonna snag a coffee and eat some eggs and just generally try to feel better.

In the meantime, I got a notification that a bunch of supplies have arrived for some of my projects, so I can get back on a regular production schedule.

I mostly feel good, emotionally.

@kelbot I wore a helmet on my skateboard and never rode a bike. I was in a pretty horrific car accident when I was little though. My parents were pretty protective on that front.

@ND3JR We watched 'em every year.

@kelbot I wasn't allowed to watch Ren and Stimpy as a kid, and I went out of my way to keep my parents from seeing Rocko's Modern Life, because I knew they'd take issue with it as well.

But yeah, so many things that were just an accepted part of my childhood seem moderately horrific in retrospect.

I imagine the same is true for every generation.

@danhunsaker Oh for sure. It's 90% variety show. It has very few redeeming qualities.

But it's also tradition.
