I decided that I like targeting palm pilots for my video podcast more than I like targeting pentiums.

I also decided that the video files that will play back on my Palm will probably also play back on my pentium MMX.

    I'll find out tomorrow, probably.

Sorry I can't be more helpful. I don't know of anything that still ticks the netbook boxes outside of Google's offerings.

I use a thinkpad x220 as a daily driver. Got it used for about $100. That's the only laptop I can really speak to at the moment.

I was enamoured with them from a distance back in the day. I've never seen one up close, but I wrote several (probably pretty crappy) paper for tech and sociology classes about them when I was doing my associates.

Any ideas for converting an rca-out to VGA?

Or vice versa (VGA out to rca)?

I was using an eeePC as my daily driver when the xo1 was first talked about, and I was in love with the display (and the promised, but I'm assuming ultimately unrealized, mesh networking.)

That's what led me to the omnibooks.

I am unfortunately just one person, so I can't do any actual Live production with this setup, but I can tape a bunch of stuff and then play it back and overdub my effects.

    Should be really great.

    Anyway, I'm excited.

    I have
    - two ENG cameras,
    - several actual video tape recorders,
    - two rigs I've put together as pseudo Video Tape Recorders that are really just computers with BCN ins and outs and a couple of hardware buttons to play/pause/record videos (I haven't tested these thoroughly, and the code I wrote for them is less than robust, so we'll see how that goes.)
    - several PVMs with inputs and outputs for watching things progress
    - etc.

I can't remember if I have a copy of the video toaster software.

I'm pretty sure it's online somewhere, so I would just need to find it and get it on to my CF card.

    I'll figure it out.

I just got the last piece of hardware required for me to use my Video Toaster! (it's an HDD adapter for the a2000, because for some reason I can't fathom, there's not any HDD connector on the machine.)

    I'm so excited.

@TheOuterLinux in this case, we'd need some additional circuitry to run the LED, as the voltage coming out of this is pretty low, but I like where your head is.
