here's how to do a neon/candle flicker

loop:
brightness += random(-20, +15)
clamp
show
delay

the two factors determine how often and how strongly it flickers

this looks a bit like a broken neon from fallout

anyway this hat is very cool

a little sad that each driver IC drives two LED panels, so the flickering can't be quite as good as it could be

and also each second panel is addressed ... 90 degrees off, for some reason. i wonder if that's some limitation of the driver or the phat pcb poorly laid out
