I was reading a super interesting Medium article on the practical considerations of space launch with regard to the structure of the rocket for each mission type and then my eyes landed on this nugget of a statement:

At present, space launch has a massively net positive impact on the environment, with GPS alone, saving a half billion gallons of fossil fuel each day while also feeding 800 million people.

I'm not sure I've ever seen someone so blatantly greenwash the activity they are a prominent actor of so casually. This is full doublespeak on display, they have to fully believe in the lie otherwise their whole world collapses.

In the end the article turned out to be a commercial white paper for the Vulcan rocket so I won't link to it but whew.

Visiting Montréal for the second time, and I’m still convinced Québéc is an elaborate prank where Americans put on striped shirts and fake mustaches and pretend to speak French to pull my leg.

@⁰FisherTX14 At this point I think I have given up on getting better myself, so instead I focus on the impact it can have on people around me. I’m not always successful, sometimes the obsession or the apathy just win, but I like to think I am making somewhat of a difference instead of letting myself be completely controlled.

@Michael Vogel Not really. The game actually informs you that skirmish defeats aren't the end of the campaign, but I didn't expect to fall this way on a deployment indicated as "Easy" on a Normal difficulty setting campaign.

Each deployment also has a lot of randomness, with several multiple choice decisions with no indication about the potential rewards/risks. In my first deployment after the tutorial, I only got negative outcomes, but I still prevailed in the tactical battle.

In the second deployment, I chose to avoid multiple choices as much as possible, and the tactical battle was cruelly unfair.

I still have about 600 games in my backlog. They aren't all good, but if I can't somewhat figure out any given game in the first hour of play, I have to leave it aside, no matter how good it may be otherwise. Too much randomness is definitely something I loathe in games because you can't figure it out by design.

    • Install Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus (2018).
    • Get team wiped out on the second tactical battle after the tutorial.
    • Uninstall.

I simply don't have the time for these games.

This track is a perfect example of the songs I like for their harmonization, which means I can't ever sing it, because the repetitive melody patterns only take life thanks to the backing bass line. #NowPlaying #Music #RetroWave #SynthWave

Why do popular meanings of "live your life to the fullest" almost always boil down to "live without responsibilities" when they are such a big part of life in general?

This is a rhetorical answer, of course, I know the answer, but I just realized this factoid today.

So, doing the actual tally for 2022 of my LEGO purchases/sales, it looks like I made $1,000 profit for the year! 🤯

Of course, overall I believe I'm still in the red but this still means that going forward I can relax a little my decisions to restore sets or not, even if some wouldn't be profitable on paper.

It's Friday night, so I'm thinking about this hypothetical dude in a shirt a little too tight in a place where music is a little too loud who had a little too much to drink and is currently trying to talk to a woman a little too pretty.

And I feel sad, for absolutely no good reason. It's yet another "this could have been me" hypothetical that fortunately didn't come to pass, and I'll never know by how much.

Looks like I will have to fill US Tax Code Schedule C form with my regular filings from now on because I'm collecting a lot of money with my #LEGO hobby. How exciting! I get to play self-employed accounting while not staking my livelihood on it!
