I believe the crux of the original tweet is “the law”. Whether the described situation is enjoyable or not entirely depends on how fair the law feels to you, but the situation still stands:
- no responsibility
- no freedom
- no choice except obedience to the law
- or disobedience followed by punishment
Neither of these depend on how decent parents are. The only parenting-dependent variable is “the law” which is even more arbitrary during childhood than adulthood. -

Probably unpopular opinion: Yes. This is what childhood is and many have nostalgia for this time in their life.
However, this isn't the case for me, my reasoning is based on the fact that the law isn't necessarily unjust, even if it is particularly egregious when it is.♲ @UrsulaBot@twitter.com: Would you really like to live in a society where you have no responsibility and no freedom, no choice, only the false option of obedience to the law, or disobedience followed by punishment? Would you really want to go live in a prison?

This series of strips is really good for everybody and the direct link to the first strip is here: reallifecomics.com/comic.php?comi… https://www.reallifecomics.com/comic.php?comic=june-29-2020 ♲ @maegodhavemercy@twitter.com: Two years ago today, I posted the first comic in a series of strips that served to not only detail my personal journey of discovery, but also served as my public coming-out announcement.
It was a scary day, but even with the world as it is today, I wouldn’t change a thing.

So, it’s official: I’m out.
Hi, nice to meet you. I’m Mae, the creator and cartoonist for Real Life Comics, which I started back in 1999 when I was just 18.
Over the next 3 weeks, I’ve got a storyline running about my journey.

Tracking and "publicly indexing by hitting the link with a search crawler" are two different beasts. In the latter case, beyond the privacy implications of a search engine publicly indexing logged-in pages, wouldn't it make magic links useless if the website discards login tokens after the first use? -

I naïvely assumed step-parents had to sign something to become a "step-parent", but this misconception was quickly dispelled when I actually looked into it for my personal situation. -

It was only this year that I learned that "step-parent" isn't a legal status. Wether married or not, step-parents aren't entitled to anything regarding to their step-children, and should the parent die, they have no automatic parental rights over their step-children. -

A French media Twitter account was asked to fill in their birth date. The media itself less than 13 year old so the account was promptly deleted to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Taking "companies are people" a little too literally. ♲ @pierrefremaux@twitter.com: Bonjour @TwitterFrance le compte entreprise de @babelio site internet dédié au livre a été supprimé manu militari sans préavis suite à votre demande de renseigner la date de naissance. I’ve always considered the “The problem with X is that you eventually run out of other people’s money” argument as a gross over-simplification so I never expected it would accurately apply to cryptocurrencies. -

This is why I've always used the most convenient encrypted anything I could use in my daily life, including my very innocuous family group chat. "It's only for crimes" is a recurring argument to enable complete mass-surveillance and I'm happy to throw in my tiny wrench. ♲ @johnnemann@twitter.com: Random advice: if you're going to use Signal, use it for everything. It can just be your messaging app - it sends regular SMS to people without Signal just fine. You'll never notice it's any different. This will be better for everyone than having An App Specifically For Crimes

A good point about neural networks' lack of fundamental understanding which makes me worry about the consequence of basing actual policies on their forced answers. ♲ @histoftech@twitter.com: The option to say “I don’t know” isn’t programmed in. This is a key design flaw. It means the system is destined to complete the GO part of acronym GIGO. Any answer is not always better than no answer.
