I believe your, I didn't click at all myself, the illustration just reminded me of the Apple Mouse that had to be charged from the bottom, rendering it unusable for the charge duration.

I’ve seen someone arguing that the COVID relief checks had allowed plenty of people to buy more food than usual, but the supply didn’t expand as fast, which contributed to the rise in price. You won't be shocked that the suggested solution was to throw back poor people to food insecurity to stabilize food prices instead of stimulating the supply.

♲ @RafaellaMarcus@twitter.com: One of my favourite things I ever learned is that women did not start dying in childbirth in high numbers until the 17th century, when male doctors took over from midwives. Midwives prioritised the life of the mother over the child all through the Medieval period 1/

A couple weeks ago I read in a popular online newspaper “the price of food and gas has increased because of inflation” and it’s mind-bogglingly absurd. Inflation is a short for “prices are increasing”, which means the quote reads “prices are increasing because prices are increasing”.

Now, I know why it was written like this, to promote dubious conservative anti-inflation measures like public spending cuts, but the sheer bad faith of the quote itself that no economist would sign off on has left me bothered ever since.
