@h Huh, I guess that would work. Is that better than having it just separate out the host data and add it to each actor? It sounds like it would be complex and failure prone, and computationally expensive too. I have to make sure it doesn't match glitch.social when looking at dev.glitch.social, for example. :/

@h Yeah but first I need to add the hostname attribute to my data. Right now it only has ActivityPub specified attributes, like preferredName, id, and url. id and url both contain the necessary host information, but it needs to be parsed out of them.

@h I'm currently writing the code to pull that data and add it to each actor, but apparently I can't use the URL() class in this context, which is a pain. :/

@h Oh, and yeah, it's using MongoDB. :/

@h Well, I could, except that the collection doesn't have the data for domain at the moment. It has the data for id and url, which contain domain data, but I'd have to process it in order to find that, which is the kind of thing I don't want to have run every time anybody mentions anybody else. :/

@h Well, it's for fediverse accounts. So I have handle and domain. I could just add a domain field to the actor objects, but that would bloat my database a bit more and I'm not sure it's the right way to go about things? :/

Aaargh. I want to check to see if I already have the data for a foreign actor in my database when working off a mention. But I don't store an actors host separately from their id. I guess I can chaqnge my database to include that information? Or is there a better way? :/
