Jokes about murdering 'capitalists', whatever you may think of them, are a) politics posts and b) posts about death/killing. They should be CWed, always, no matter how hot a take you think they are.
I admit I don't see a lot of humour in "bloodily purge the elite" jokes, as a historian (it's amazing how the "elite" description stretches when put into practice). But even if you think it's hilarious fun, it's still killing-politics and you should still cw it.
@ink_slinger@allan@susannah Self-driving cars could also free up space on the roads by decreasing the demand for parking. If they function like taxis, they will be continually moving from point to point, rather than sitting still at least 90% of the time like most cars do now.
In any case, AIUI, the current technology for #selfdrivingcars is unable to handle snowfall, so we won't see them commonly in Canada for a few years.
(2/2) Of course, the only plutonium ever on site was contained in irradiated fuel elements, slugs of uranium metal canned in magnesium alloy. Once unloaded, these were held about a hundred days, then sent on to Windscale (on the Irish Sea) for reprocessing. Only there could Pu have found a path to the outside world. #atomicpowertothepeople
@Gargron It's been ready for months, I haven't enabled it because mute/blocks/private accounts were not finished until recently. You set the bar pretty high, so I want to make sure it's a legit stable release.
I dread the prospect of going through my Google+ archive and reposting the good stuff on my blog, but only if I haven’t already done it back then. It seems so pointless. And at the same time, I feel that I need to do it out of self respect. If my blog is an extension of my memory, my identity, then loosing some of it feels like a partial amnesia.
@Angle The classic argument is that popular freedom depends on the virtue of the public — a society lacking in virtue will inevitably be dominated by internal or external parties, and indeed may require domination so as not to fall into anarchy.
Depending on how you define freedom (opportunity? absence of control by the state?) an unequal society can have a high degree of freedom. Consider the US vs. Germany.
