As an expat living in Canada, the more I live here, the more I'm convinced I'm actually stuck in some kind of cryptic horror nightmare country that's subtly and slowly eating away at me.

"Sorry," someone says, passing by. "Sorry," another one says. You do not know what they are sorry for. "Sorry." You do not know what they did to you to make you apologise. You hold back tears.

Is it The Bay? Or is it Hudson's Bay? It could be either. You glance over your shoulder. For now, it seems, it is simply The Bay. It is time to rest, for it will all resume tomorrow.

Do not speak of Vancouver. Do not speak of Montreal. Do not yearn for those other places. You are safe here, here in Toronto. It is for the best you are here, with us. You must be confused for thinking otherwise. The City of Toronto will now run an art festival to calm you.

You speak to someone. They make a sound at the end. You nod your head and agree. You never disagree when they make the sound at the end.

Everyone says the other language everyone speaks is French. When you walk down the street, though, you notice all the signs are in Chinese. You ask them again. They still tell you it's French.

Please let Jody Wilson-Raybould be re-elected...
A minority Liberal government will be much more entertaining if #JustinTrudeau has to confront her when he's in the House of Commons.

This is like my most optimistic realistic outcome
I'm actually really happy about this
Liberal minority government with NDP balance of power

@ink_slinger @keithzg Oh, we should be grateful that the VoteCompass at least gives us two axes of political disagreement, much better than the classic left-right paradigm. (In fact, the VoteCompass has a third axis now, Centralised vs. Decentralised, particularly important to show the difference between the Bloc and the other parties.)
In any case, as you can imagine, I didn't need the VoteCompass to know which party was most aligned with my values.

A useful #ElectoralReform I support: "None of the above" on the ballot.

Go vote, and vote for someone who hasn't had a scandal about them being overtly racist or sexist!

(Sorry, I was unable to add an alt text to the image; it's the CBC VoteCompass, showing my opinions closest to the CPC.)
The chart is a bit misleading, since I would say that I am both more socially conservative and economically right-wing than the policies of the #Tories. It's a definition issue: I think that conserving the environment is a #conservative value, for instance, but CBC probably scores it as being on the left. Also, like #JasonKenney, I welcome immigrants.
