So the defcon people who got their hands on voting machines released their report.

People of mastodon, I give you one of the lines from the report:

"That same machine was found to have an unchangeable, universal default password – found with a simple Google search – of “admin” and “abcde.”"

Rechargeable batteries work a lot like how humans deal with energy. They discharge at a steady rate, discharge more quickly with more heavy use, recharge regularly (nightly) or ad hoc (naps), and as they age they gradually lose capacity. It still takes a while for age to have a noticeable effect, and something else usually happens first before it gets bad. Though, traumatic incidents can also drastically reduce capacity.
