My community orchestra is meeting tonight via Jitsi! Nervous and excited!!! I *know* I will need to adopt a completely different approach, and have been thinking on this for several days. - the silent rehearsal where only I speak/play. Going to be so tricky!!! 7pm BST (I'll keep you posted how it goes)
Yesterday I thanked the guest house owner for the lovely breakfast and said I couldn’t eat all that food..... and today I woke to this- for just me!!! This could feed my family of 5 and then some!! #bulgaria#breakfast
I did it. Last night I had my first performance of this Kodaly Sonata and it was good. It was an absolutely magical space, very unconventional. I began with no audience. The art gallery visitors heard me through the building and came. People came from the stairs above, came from adjoining rooms, sat & they all stayed for this 30 min modern sounding cello piece. Many were artists. One man said it made him think of carving stone. Other lady said what a wonderful moment in time. (yay) #smallstories
Yesterday between playing a charity gig, nursing an almost migraine, and practice, I calmed myself by picking the wineberries. (form of Japanese raspberry - so so sweet and slightly sticky to the touch, not sold in any store and supremely delicious) This is all in a 6ft square.
Pictures show: 1. denim up, so avoid the MANY thorns (tiny and quite invasive all along the stalk & leaves) 2. I crawl under that to get inside 3. here's how they grow 4. yum :)
My practice was interrupted by chasing a bird off our hazelnut tree so I could gather this rich harvest (one of 5 nuts on the tree - it was a baby when we planted it three years ago) #smallstories
I have never got to grips with earbuds for anything. But the clarity of space and air, I love that. This morning I had nothing but raindrops on the sea for my 2 miles of running. :)
@Downes there must be more story to tell here? Do you have pictures? Did you need a rest day after that? Do you do great thinking on such a long ride - or just enjoy the clarity of the air?
@Downes the clouds, the river as big as a sea, the sleepy houses with nothing but trees around, and the little shop with the sale - and that dragonfly on a rock.
These are just the sort of things that temp me to come back to N. America one day. All the best bits of places I knew.
a new blog post - on the learning project that has consumed me for the past 53 days: Learning and documenting the Kodaly Cello Sonata https://wp.me/p4Ng5z-1iR
@tdorey so I found out borax is banned in the UK :(
apparently if you eat it, it is bad. it is in the ant stuff I have, but you drip like a few drops and wait for them to eat it. AND THEY COME BACK EVERY YEAR. :/
