I’m approaching “what year is this” in meme fluency. There’s just too much “all the things”. I passed “how do you do fellow kids” since I’m now in my 30s already, but it’s OK because my end goal is “universe brain” hermitage. I wonder if living in the woods will finally bring me to “we’ve got a badass over here”
I'm guessing the 1985 "BookMac" concept eventually became the Macbook of today
There were multiple versions with the top being a glorified PDA (before PDAs were a thing) and the lower left a portable mobile, complete with receiver. The lower right model is probably what we'd call a "laptop" today
These were concepts by the Frog Design company of Hartmut Esslinger who was also responsible for other Apple designs from 1984 - 1990
@cypnk i failed a grade in middle school, and one of my standard nightmares thereafter was that i had been held back again.
in adulthood, this transformed into a recurring dream that i had through some inscrutable process been recalled as an adult back to some strata of k-12 education because i didn't _really_ graduate. usually with a side of not remembering my locker number.
As a teenager, there were times I would stare up at the ceiling while laying in bed, after a particularly rubbish day at school, wondering what adulthood would really be like
What I really looked forward to was being able to eat cookies whenever I wanted
I'm in my 30s now and I still think that's the best part of being an adult
Of course, I also didn't imagine I'd have a roommate who refuses to wear pants
