This is a view I found on Skyline Drive. You can see why it is called the Blue Ridge.

In summary, this is why the Art Nouveau aesthetic matches Solarpunk. Both movements are anticapitalist, have an innate appreciation for nature, and are about making the world a better place for everyone rather than merely a select few.

For this reason, I like that much of the Solarpunk movement is influenced by Art Nouveau. I really hope it continues that way.

Unfortunately, the blossoming Art Nouveau movement was killed off around the time of World War I and never properly recovered.

Now, it's considered to be a thing of the past. Capitalism teaches us that things which are old and pretty are also expensive and that they are only for the wealthy to enjoy. We've been indoctrinated to believe this.

Do NOT believe this. Beauty is not for the rich or for a select few. Beauty is for everyone.

    Humans are batteries, yo!

"Almost all the oxygen we breathe is turned into water by mitochondria, which add two electrons and two H+ ions to each oxygen atom, making four electrons for an O2 molecule... the resting human being harbors 100 amperes of electric current, and an athlete at full stretch reaches 1,000A.15 The average wall plug is fused at 15A."

Reminder: There are other ways to host a code repository than Git

Some folks like Fossil to self-host, which is also what the SQLite project uses internally
    https://fossil-scm.org/index.html/doc/trunk/www/index.wiki

There's Darcs, which has a unique set of features I think some folks will enjoy
    http://darcs.net/Features

Old-school SVN and CVS aren't dead either

Point is, you have many other options

@bobstechsite That’s a great observation and I think it’s completely true. It seems the current trend is to turn every connected personal computer into a “fat client”

I still don’t actually know how the internet works

But it’s not working for me the way I need it. It’s not working the way a lot of people need it

There seems to be some kind of reverse Moore’s Law for net speeds in that with every doubling of speed, there’s a halving of throughput of actual, useful, information

Botnets, trackers, spammers, and other data parasites are saturating available bandwidth faster than speeds can improve

TIL “In the late 1500s, the English printer Henry Denham proposed using a reverse question mark, ⸮, called a PERCONTATION POINT to indicate that a question was rhetorical and so didn’t require an answer.”

It’s the punctuation we deserve and the one we need right now

I joke about captions, but there have been times where I have avoided posting an image because I couldn't come up with one

There's a lot of pressure now on requiring captions and sometimes, I just don't have the energy to type one. Or read the responses if I forget one or if it wasn't good enough
