Ever-growing list of websites that don’t work at all or show a plain white page without #JavaScript is a testament to the cesspool that is modern web development

I browse without JS on mobile to save my meager bandwidth (8mb for JS libs from 10 different sources), to save battery life, and to avoid the deluge of on-page malarkey that make most sites unusable

This is more #Cyberpunk than I bargained for

If you were wondering why most photos of the Pyramids in Giza always seem to be from the same angle, this is why

Because of the extensive tourism, they built a highway right up to site. And with tourism and traffic come shops. Businesses get money and they build houses and yet more shops, and so on...

The end result is a city which kinda ruins the mood if you want your pyramid photo to have the “lost in the desert” vibe

"People have a really hard time understanding URLs" is not a good enough reason to get rid of URLs

To this day, I refuse to use an AMP specific webpage as it breaks the open web. When I'm presented with an AMP link, I edit the URL to remove that component so I get the full page. "Safe" URLs will similarly cater to Google interests and I will not be using it

If other vendors go along with this, I'll write my own browser if I have to

Reminder: Be very careful with quizzes that measure your "political spectrum" or some other variation that determines preferences, proclivities etc... based on a set of arbitrary and rudimentary questions

Unless you're blocking all trackers, or better yet on Tor, you've just given ad companies yet another set of data points to target you

Worse, you've given authorities, which will inevitably tap that data, ready access to information that's illegal to put on any census

The committee met in plenary session. As a result, there were heated discussions from the varied factions. There was little need for the furnace to fill its plenum with hot air, such air being provided by the committee itself.

I've come to find that I've completely over-valued the concept of "knowing your audience".

I'm now of a mind that everyone should be your audience, and the information you share should have sufficient "resolution" to meet the audience's level of desire.

To put it another way, the information you share should be rich enough that the audience can decide how deep they want to go instead of trying to "fit" the depth to a specific audience.
