    In 2005 I had an Odeo account. Then this thing called "twttr" came from it.

    Was a wild, wonderful time. Getting to meet smart people and have expansive conversations.

    This fediverse with a "local" community - it appeals to me, on so many levels. Here is to building a community, and to grow and learn together (again).

    I read some of the mailing list drama about Speck. Linus no doubt let this pass because Google will be a major influence in the Linux Foundation, indirectly paying his salary.

    This is the advantage of FOSS. The NSA can bribe engineers, but distro makers or end users can still remove the offending code if they're aware of it.

    I walked away from the christianity religion maybe 10 or more years ago. While I was in there, I was obsessed with what they call: "end-times prophecy". Shit, I fucking studied every angle. Became a bit of an expert.
    But eventually I walked away (for other reasons).
    Since then, watching technology and the world economy evolve - there is just one thing that I cannot shake:

    No, it's not! we don't want businesses/spammers to come to collect our data and spam us, in order to try to sell us stuff we don't give a cr** about. We don't want to see "sponsored" posts or ads. Brands and business interests are opposed to a free, open, respectful network, without crapware or surveillance capitalism
