Neither one of them was worth a plug nickel when it came to coming up with solutions for the problems they saw, let alone integrating those with a broader society.

@algernon my use case is switching between English and Japanese, and I'm just starting to learn Japanese.

Since I don't know the key mapping yet, I can only type gibberish in Japanese when I have the keyboard in that mode.

@algernon Thanks! Mainly concerned with X11 keymap display rather than keyboard macros.

@algernon the former is what I was inquiring about. I'm pretty sure I can manage a "current keymap" display on a second monitor (there's been an X11 App for that since the 90's, if not before), but the idea of a *decent* keyboard where I could just glance at the keyboard to see which keymap is active is appealing for obvious reasons.

Anyone out there know of a programmable keyboard that can be adapted to show the currently active keymap?

@gudenau my responses on here are slow enough that this should be visible to me for a while, and I should review it myself.

I haven't needed it since we retired the phone management app I had to write in C(++) which was my last C project and over a decade ago, but it was easier than printf() and more powerful.

@gudenau been there. GDB is worth the effort, but I still use printf() as a backup.

@gudenau gdb should work with clang.

@hackervoice done that, and the manpage wouldn't have helped.

Cloning disks is awesome, though. Top notch.

@Miredly I don't know enough about it to say. It's somewhere around sales in my areas of incompetence.
