@strypey I read a novel "Daemon" a few years ago that started off like that. Don't recall the author's name, but the book is laying around here somewhere.
@bobjonkman@cameron Well, I bricked my old Pentium IV notebook while trying to flash a new bios, but it did not keep me back from flashing mobile phones. :D
I guess it's also about finding a good, trustworthy tutorial (you- hooktube is surprisingly good sometimes) and as I mentioned, having a safety net in form of a backup is crucial.
And when it's scary - and indeed it is for me too -, it makes that feeling even better you see that new splash screen of the freshly flashed rom booting...

IISc is asking students' for Aadhaar again. This time, it is for NAD (National Academic Depository) registration. Guess what, they have shared a public spreadsheet with 4000 students' details (name, dept, gender, caste/category, etc.), with a blank column for Aadhaar. They expect people to enter their Aadhaar IDs in this public spreadsheet! Such is the deplorable state of !india 's premier research institute.
