I was looking at @Per Axbom 's Fedi tree illustration and I was thinking, huh, there's Mobilizon but no GetTogether?
When #Mobilizon came out, lots of people on Fedi said ooh, ooh, make sure it interoperates with Friendica and Hubzilla, and oh, make sure to coordinate with the #GetTogether people too and Framasoft said yes, of course we want to interoperate, so I guess I kind of assumed that GetTogether was in the process of implementing federation over ActivityPub.
A year or so later I guess I assumed that Mobilizon and GetTogether were interoperating.
github.com/GetTogetherComm/Get⦠from 2018 is about the fedi topic.
Lots of friendly fedi faces there, like @Strypey , @Sean Tilley and @ΛΛΛ wakest ΛΛΛ providing explanations and usecases, but in the end the GT people seem to have been unconvinced of the value and wary of the implementation cost, so the issue remains open to this day.

They didn't say no, so if someone wants a fedi adventure maybe they would accept contributions. It would mean changes to their internal user model among other things, so it's no small undertaking and the first step would be to understand everything about how their data model works.
It seems they provided an AS2 conversion already, not sure if merged or just some throwaway code, but at least part of that work is done.
If you want to do this you'd better talk to them first so that you don't put a lot of work into something they ultimately won't merge. Code is a social activity!

@clacke Our #KWNPSA user group chatted with the #GetTogether developer a few months ago. He said demand for self-hosted G2G instances was minimal, and event interchange even more minimal. So #ActivityPub support on G2G has stalled, and he considers G2G more or less stable and mature.

@Bob Jonkman Kind of self-fulfilling though. ("not with that attitude they wont!")
But it's true that Fedi people will automatically want to Federate All The Things and I get why someone with a different aim wouldn't necessarily see a point to it all.
