@clacke Our #KWNPSA user group chatted with the #GetTogether developer a few months ago. He said demand for self-hosted G2G instances was minimal, and event interchange even more minimal. So #ActivityPub support on G2G has stalled, and he considers G2G more or less stable and mature.
I was looking at @Per Axbom 's Fedi tree illustration and I was thinking, huh, there's Mobilizon but no GetTogether?
When #Mobilizon came out, lots of people on Fedi said ooh, ooh, make sure it interoperates with Friendica and Hubzilla, and oh, make sure to coordinate with the #GetTogether people too and Framasoft said yes, of course we want to interoperate, so I guess I kind of assumed that GetTogether was in the process of implementing federation over ActivityPub.
A year or so later I guess I assumed that Mobilizon and GetTogether were interoperating.
Lots of friendly fedi faces there, like @Strypey , @Sean Tilley and @˗ˏˋ wakest ˎˊ˗ providing explanations and usecases, but in the end the GT people seem to have been unconvinced of the value and wary of the implementation cost, so the issue remains open to this day.
@hyde_stevenson It depends on your perspective. Sure, both softwares want to organize communiities aroud events.
But #GetTogether looks oriented to corporate users (a la #MeetUp) and idk where they landed on their economic model.
We want to orient #Mobilizon towards facebook users that organize their activities and activisms there, and we are funded only through small donations.
Both will be interoperable through #ActivityPub, though.
Many thanks to @CoralineAda and @stumpsyn we now have a Code of Conduct for both the GetTogether software project, and an Events CoC for the https://gettogether.community instance.
I'm not generally a fan of giant patches, but we landed a 2,100 line PR that makes it fully translatable! You can help make it available in your language here:
We hate spam as much as you do, that's why GetTogether only sends you relevant messages. To date we average fewer than 1.5 messages per person, over the past 6 months!
We've added a new Do Not Track feature for our privacy concerned users! This will prevent #GetTogether from using Google Analytics, as well as social media sharing code, from every page you visit on the site.
While this reduces functionality of the site, and it means we lose visibility on how those people are using it, privacy is an important feature for a lot of our community and we want to support their choice.
@mayel@Matt_Noyes@mattcropp I've added the ability for the Organization owner (mayel) to create new #GetTogether teams under the Social.Coop org, so you can now make as many as you want!
