Two factor authentication is the bane of my existence. It is #ANNOYING! I misplace all the time. This may be related to my #ADHD but maybe not since that hasn’t improved since my doctor put me on Vyvanse while everything else in my life more-or-less has. From a security standpoint I get it, but I do get so concerned about how much of one’s identity is tied to your phone these days. Not only does that hurt people who chose not to have a cell phone, but how easy is it for me to lose everything if someone else steals my cell phone.

In fact Facebook requiring me to activate #2FA to continue to utilize my account was the primary driving factor between me using Friendica as my primary social media now rather than Facebook, even though I first joined the ‘verse back in 2011, when it was called simply open source microblogging and was pretty much just identi.ca/feeds/7gqal0c2pesei9… (if you had an account there, it still works BTW and @Evan Prodromou has indicated he plans to integrate ActivityPub by this summer, after its previous protocols, StatusNet and Pump.io, have fell out of favor). @Passwords @neurodiverse@hexbear.net @netsec@links.hackliberty.org @ADHD

#2FA with a https://www.yubico.com/ Yubikey or https://solokeys.com/ Solokey is pretty decent. But a lot of sites choose not to support real 2FA / #MFA and instead require a cell phone number (weak, because your phone is easy to subvert ... call your cellular provider and tell them they're you and they have a new phone. The "helpful" people there will gladly give control of your number to an entirely different sim card).

The last time I saw Netscape, it was a cut-down AOL service (cut down because it was cheaper and went directly to the Internet). That was probably around 2006.

I don't know when the software part of Netscape finally vanished. It seems like Netscape 6 had already come and gone by that time.

Netscape opened all their stuff for Mozilla and stopped a seperate rebranded Netscape Navigator would have been Netscape 9 back in like '08. On my work PC I have the Netscape theme installed on my Mozilla Firefox 😉

@simsa03 I knew that Trump cancelling the deal with Iran was a serious mistake. This is clearly visible now that Russia's invasion of Ukraine proves that giving up (or not building) nuclear weapons gives other nuclear armed nations a green light to attack at any time.

I picked up Pacific Drive last week and I've been having a lot of fun with it. In a lot of ways it reminds me of The Long Dark, but much more light-hearted and less of a cruel grind.

The game starts you with perhaps the shittiest station wagon known to human kind, but you get to upgrade and customize it to your liking in play. This is a photo of the current state of my ride. The glow in the dark decals make it easy to find in the dark :D

There were already some such requirements for federal agencies. If you've ever tried to use a web site of a federal agency, you'll see how little those things get enforced.

I do remember that Target used to have a site built primarily on Flash. The state of California sued because it wasn't accessible, and Target quickly changed their site (even at one point working through Amazon).

I jokingly posted it the other day.

100% a joke, there was no way it was DNS.

Today I found a configuration line.

It shouldn't matter, but just to exclude the impossible we had to try it.

                          It was frikkin DNS.

Not a network mesh latency issue, not a weird thing with the database, just some service (a shelf product, not our code) that incessantly looks up whatever names on every single request, without caching, and it was doing it from another continent, slowing everything to molasses.

Managed to get to a place that wasn't too cloudy for today's eclipse, near the path of totality. I got a few pictures with my camera. I didn't bring any fancy equipment; I just brought my 20-year-old DSLR, with the kit lens. So the pictures are nothing spectacular, but I'm happy enough with what I got.
