@kaniini Hey, how's #litepub going? Trying to reverse engineer a list of API endpoints to implement for Mastodon federation compatibility, and existing docs are ... sub-optimal, to say the least. #ActivityPub
while trying to reverse engineer #activitypub implementations in order to learn about the protocol during tonight's homebrewserver.club meeting we discovered @puckipedia whose website just with responds bare JSON-LD objects. It is like an interactive tutorial to AP. At this point in time it actually the only hands-on place to learn how AP works without having to wrap one's head around the spec 👏🏿 .
It's a set of forums where anyone can give feedback and ideas for these projects directly to the developers. You don't need to be a coder to take part.
In the year 2525: #ActivityPub is adopted by Google and FB to stay relevant. 15 years later the companies realize no one is going to their sites and seeing ads despite the change and develop a closed source version called #ActivityDrug.
Evan Prodromou (who is the grandfather of federated microblogging, I don't think you wouldn't be here without them.) is hiring someone to work on ActivityPub software.
"If you want a (paying full-time permanent) job (with real human money) building #ActivityPub server software please DM me"
... and you don't. That's the whole point of open, federated protocols like #OStatus and #ActivityPub (and even the Diaspora variant of OStatus). The apps that use these are not monocultures (in the #IndieWeb sense) and never have been. !groups exist in OStatus and in AP, but working implementations are still in progress.
