@leshoshin Par rapport à l'Ontario, dans les journaux québécois, Toronto est toujours « la Ville Reine »; mais en anglais je n'ai jamais entendu « Queen City ».
Canada’s longest suspension footbridge is now open! Located off the shores of #LakeSuperior in Northwestern #Ontario, you can brave crossing more than 180 metres in the air while enjoying the beautiful surroundings of the #EagleCanyon floor below!
@interneteh We have a similar situation in #Canada when conservatives get in government. They slash budgets and cut the scope of government to the bone, then complain about how little the bureaucracy does, how long it takes to get service, and how ineffective they are. This is happening in #Ontario now, as they recently elected a mini-Trump named Doug Ford.
I am sure the same thing happens in the US and elsewhere as well.
That's because you live in #Ontario, where #alcohol sales are a government-controlled and -owned monopoly. Because alcohol sales are a revenue-generator for the government they set the price *way* above production costs. After all, how much could it possibly cost to let some potatoes ferment in a bucket?
Makes me think of #Elmira, #Ontario (where I live now). In the late 1950's it declared itself "Canada's first weed-free town", courtesy of the local Boy Scout and Cub Scout troops who were dispatched to douse every lawn with 2,4-D... Imagine, dozens of 8-10 year olds with pesticide spray applicators... Of course, 2,4-D was a locally made herbicide, straight from the same plant in the north of town that would be producing Agent Orange a few years later. Today, we get all our water piped in from a neighbouring community, since all Elmira's groundwater is contaminated...
We've got the @KWLinuxfest here in #Ontario, !Canada on Saturday, 27 January 2018. One-day conference, single-track, maybe a 2nd workshop track if there's a sufficiently interesting presentation proposal. CFP closes 1 November 2017 https://kwlinuxfest.ca/
