#sonTwo and I had just watched #StarWars Episode One at the theater. Heading home, we stopped at Walmart. We passed the toy aisle and I noticed toy light sabers. I grabbed one, accused my child of being a Sith, and started swinging it at him. He ran, saying "stop, you're embarrassing me", while I gave chase.
Many years later, when he left for college, he told some other students this and other stories and they voted me "most embarrassing dad".

People refer to "Zeon" ... which I assume is a TV show. It always reminds me of PR:Zeo ( Power Rangers Zeo ).
By the time #PR:Zeo aired, #sonTwo and my nephews had all abandoned #Power_Rangers, so I honestly do not think I ever saw an episode. I think PR:IS ( Power Rangers In Space ) was the last one I saw any episodes of.

Sent #sonTwo, #Daddy_A, and my friends Mark and S each a photo of the outside and inside of #GD1's birthday card. Mark just called back to ask me if I knew what I bought.
Yes. She'll be 13. That's probably the tamest card she'll get.

@clacke Contrasts #Hong_Kong in 2003 responding to #SARS with #Sweden in 2020 responding to #COVID-19.
Admittedly, I was barely even aware of SARS at the time (and completely missed MERS a few years later). But at the time, I was working full time, attending a college and a university, teaching a class at church, and trying to work out custody of #sonTwo. I was running full tilt for around 20 hours a day, drinking around 4 twelve-cup pots of coffee each day.
I'm really surprised I remember those years at all.

I want a smoker. And a nice, large grill with a charcoal side and a propane side. If I ever bought them, though, I'd have them delivered to #sonTwo's place. I think they are too expensive for my level of utilization. Better to put it where we can jointly use it.
-
Ordered a replacement for #sonTwo's rice cooker / pressure cooker. The old one died after three years of frequent use.

I'm pretty low in motivation and making plans for the future right now, but I am starting to think that whatever I do next should involve starting and building a business together with #sonTwo, so that when I cannot work any longer or I pass away, he can carry it forward.
I'd love to see the older and younger boys also assist, but the middle child is the one I trust to make decisions that are closest to my own values, so he's the one I'd want to leave in control.
Anyway, that's all great, but doing what? How would I prepare (skill up, get funding, acquire necessary tools and equipment)?
I don't have any answers or even any leanings that I could use for guidance, which stinks, because I have never been the person that did not know what I wanted to achieve and how I wanted to proceed to make that happen.

Daughter-in-law sent a side view photo of #sonTwo and #GS3. The main differences are their ears and that one has a beard. Otherwise, they look as alike as two of the same model of car.

I'm a permanent vote-by-mail voter. Compared to in-person voting, I don't have to worry about lines, breakdowns, or running out of receipt paper for the machines.
(One time, I dropped #sonTwo off to vote. There were long lines, and while he was voting, they announced that because of the lack of receipt paper, most of their machines were inoperable. A couple of hundred people were unable to vote.)

When #sonTwo was in 4th? grade, he had to study the missions, so the plan was to visit every one of them in the Southern half of the state. My work schedule and finances were such that I never took him to a single one. (IIRC, his mother took him to 2-3 one weekend; thatโs as far as it ever went.)
-
#sonTwoโs wife had a medical appointment. The doctor said her job is too stressful ... so now sheโs got the added stress of trying to find a less-stressful job or the stress of them trying to stay afloat without her income.
-
I remember when #sonTwo and #Daddy_A decided that my Shrek character was the donkey ... claiming that I was as annoying as him.
-
#sonTwo got DisneyPlus for a month because he wanted to watch "Hamilton". They can't afford to keep the service, so he plans to watch the show again at least weekly while they still have it.
-
It is about 21:00 in #KCMO, so I'm not expecting a return call from #sonOne. #sonTwo is off-work around now, so I may get to talk with him for a little while.

The city's #Independence_Day #fireworks show was unimpressive because there were at least three other directions with equal or better fireworks. The muni show also lacked pacing, so there would be 3-4 in rapid succession, then a longish delay before the next little batch. I gave up on it and went back inside. The finale sounded impressive, but it was over before I got back outside to try to see it.
But it was a good reminder:
"And the rockets' red glare
The bombs bursting in air
Gave proof through the night
That our flag was still there"
In other news, #Daddy_A sent me a little video of his neighborhood's fireworks. It sounded like two SWAT teams playing "full contact" capture the flag. #SonTwo said his area is also "crazy" with fireworks, but he was hoping everyone burned through their supplies quickly, so that #GS3 could get to sleep at a reasonable time.

#sonTwo tells me that #GS3 is playing with the granddoggy's new ball more than she is. I guess he like hers better than the ball I sent for him.

During today's #videochat with #sonOne, we talked about network stuff (CLNS, IS-IS, OSPF, token ring, FDDI, the OSI protocol stack, TCP/IP, IPX/SPX), job-hunting, updates on #sonTwo's work status and #Daddy_A's birthday ( did I mention that "we" ordered his NAS box? ), vehicle repairs, Star Wars/Mandalorian, imported Japanese-market Transformers toys, and idiotic people whose behaviors are putting other people at risk for #COVID-19. Oh, and fried chicken places.
What did not happen:
Usually, #GD1 and #GD2 join us for 10-30 minutes; occasionally his wife joins us. Today, none of them joined.

https://www.amazon.com/Synology-bay-DiskStation-DS218-Diskless/dp/B077PJX8TH Wondering whether I can get #sonOne and #sonTwo to contribute toward getting this for #Daddy_A. Either way, he'll have to come up with his own HDDs / SSDs. For me, the NAS is more of an irritant than anything else, because I really only want remote storage / backup ... a network file system, not an app platform atop remote storage. But I'm one of the few who feel this way.

#GS3 experienced an ancestral treasure today. He had his first grilled cheese sandwich. (Used to be #sonTwo's favorite food, until he discovered quesadillas.)
-
#sonTwo is now working two part-time jobs, found out that unemployment + COVID unemployment would have been more than he's making. Leave it to the government to punish the person who got (lower paying) work instead of sitting at home awaiting a check.
