@lain I honestly think that some of that is inevitable when we have so many people joining. But I think some of the most contentious folks are eventually going to go back to #Twitter and #Facebook (and a few will leave for a #P2P network, such as #Twister), while grumbling that the #Fediverse is "full of hypocrites".
@dragnucs What I mean is they use the same APIs and AP protocol, and attract pretty much the same people (those who will even consider using the #Fediverse instead of [or in addition to] #Corpocentric #Lockiverse platforms like #Facebook, #Instagram, #Twitter).
!fnetworks On the main (Nu) instance, maximum post size has been raised from 1164 characters (1000 + #Twitter's old 140) to 4096 characters. There may be some tweaking and adjusting over the next couple of weeks.
Anyone interested in a mastodon instance focused on India? I have seen that many Indian users on Twitter have to go through vicious trolling.
The philosophy is to have a hate-speech free version of Twitter for Indians, free of fake news and IT Cells. We'll have bots to follow Modi, Gandhi, Kejriwal, etc. and some news websites. The servers could be crowdfunded.
Why is @LanaLokteff still using both @TwitterSupport and @TeamYouTube to openly promote Nazism? This is a film about Adolf Hitler as "Germany's messiah", celebrating Nazism as "liberation" of German people."
Many social movements are in need of outreach. Not as a means by itself but as part of a strategy serving their specific cause. For now, #facebook, #twitter are serving many social movements in their cause. Unfortunately this comes with the cost of everything that comes with surveillance capitalism, especially ones dependencies have build up. You can help to overcome this! Not to shure how? Start a discourse about it and develope with others strategies that you're capable of using\takin part in.
I'm tyn to pitch the fediverse to a couple of groups. For that reason I'm looking for several articles that describe issues with #twitter and #facebook and also articles that describe how the fediverse takes self determined steps in solving those. What are your favorite articles? If you've wrote something, don't be to shy to link it to me :) If you know articles that are written from an anarchist perspective even better. (podcast or video also welcome)
Algúns proxectos do #fediverso utilízanas para suxerir a quén seguir. En mastodon aínda non vin tal ferramenta.
"... what happened recently with ... trending hashtags ..." (see @dansup's post about 4 hours ago) . I don't know what happened with #Twitter trending #hashtags, but their way of listing what is trending is of limited utility anyway. If it becomes "important", groups will conspire to post and repeat posts using the same tag in a short time period and sites may filter / censor which tags make the list.
Hello fediverse, what would you think about #hambibleibt starts to switch from surveillance capitalist proprietary centralistic platforms such as #facebook and #twitter to an self organized federated alternative such as the fediverse? Would anyone be interested in building up a campaign that connects both struggles? #hambibleibt got mainstream attention (in germany) and international attention. (movment that is protecting a forest under the motto 'system change not climate change)
It doesn't really matter if Twitter is trustworthy or not, simply having a vast amount of personal data in one place is going to attract spies from all sorts of organisations that wish to misuse it.
This is why decentralisation is important, to make it technically more difficult to invade people's privacy.
