    Must have been someone else. The only static website generator I've used is a text editor :-) There's a bunch of #WordPress installations I maintain, and I run a MediaWiki instance. Neither qualifies as "static"... / @mcscx2 @steckhalter

    But what I want to do is help individuals. So I need to do some market research. How much would you pay for:

    1 Un-hacking a site
    2 Month or year of hosting
    3 An hour of phone support
    4 Manage yer domains/DNS
    5 Email support

    A high risk client wants to use #WordPress. I may be ultimately responsible.

    I believe I can handle doing things correctly at the LAM but the P concerns me. How to harden WP? My first thoughts are lock down the users table and move wp-config.php out of the web root. Change control on core and I handle updates.

    How else to harden wp? Jokes welcome but bonus points for actual suggestions.

    One pro for doing it: I get to set it up correctly. Learning SquareSpace isn't what I'd call fun, but it will give me the knowledge and vocabulary to speak to current users, as I can with Shopify and Wix users. Also, I've read over and over that SqaSpa is one of the main competitors to #WordPress.

    But gah, learning it to set it up, rather than shutting it down?! BHULaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh.

    I'm still running a self-hosted #wordpress install with almost 16 years of history and entries. Wonder whether there is some way of integrating or migrating this into the #fediverse or on some self-hosted platform such as #gnusocial or #mastodon. It possibly needs to be something php based as I just do have web hosting, no root access. Recommendations anyone?

    The #apparmor for #wordpress on #apache webserver was a moderate success.

    It is in complain mode and I need to do more tests like upload an image but it is reasonably simple to setup.

    I think I'll lock off theme and plugin updates by default and switch them on when needed.

    What is a worry is the non WordPress WSGI stuff just works with no rules. I'm not sure why.

      Which market is that? It isn’t clear if you are talking about the “web”, or Hardypress’ customers. My experience disagrees with this observation.
