@allan That's a good idea. The nice thing about the trailer is that it lets us extend our camping season by a few weeks, since it's warmer than tenting (although I have an excellent sleeping bag; I'm usually too warm in the peak summer season).
Barring an early snow, we could probably comfortably camp into October (I'm hesitant to fire up the propane furnace that is, I think, original and therefore 40+ years old, but if we've got power I could run a space heater).
@allan I'm pretty excited about Elk Island, actually, because of the dark sky preserve. I'm not sure I've actually been there after dark, so it'll hopefully be pretty cool.
@allan We're going to Brazeau Reservoir toward the end of July. Nothing else actually planned yet. We'll probably do a couple nights at Elk Island as a first trip, just to get used to pulling a trailer (and because I've never actually camped there, despite visiting plenty to go hiking).
In the midst of all the awfulness, I've found time to sort out the trailer issues. I managed to get a hitch that's the correct size (an uncommon size, so I had to order online and pay quite a more than I'd hoped) and installed the wiring adaptor on my SUV. Tomorrow, hopefully, I'll take it in to have the new tires installed. Then, at least, we can get out and camp this summer. That'll help with the grieving, I think.
@keithzg Also, who does that? If I passed a cyclists close enough that they hit my car, I'd be mortified and embarrassed, not follwong them and calling the cops to report a nonexistent crime.
@keithzg LOL, wow. "Tapping on trucks is assault, sir. We'll let you off with a warning this time, but if you tap another truck the Crown will be forced to press charges, got it?"
@allan Yeah, the job is specifically for the Developer Relations team, but it also mentions work on the advocacy side of things, which would probably be really interesting.
I can't seem to find any info on an Edmonton office location. It might be a work from home thing, but then why doesn't it say that? The ad specifically says Edmonton. Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
Regardless, it's probably worth a shot. Doesn't hurt, regardless of the outcome.
Huh. Apparently Mozilla has an Edmonton office. And they're hiring for a person with a skillset very similar to my own (content marketing, copywriting, etc). I'm not really looking for a new job right now, but it also seems like a time for new beginnings after what's happened to us, so I might just apply.
