@bartleby @JordiGH Season 1 was very good. I hear the second season is even better.

@JordiGH To be fair, because of the rushed paced of the final two seasons, they didn't build up to that moment as well as they should have. I expected her to destroy the Red Keep at the centre of the city, which would have still resulted in hundreds (thousands?) of innocent deaths, but not the entire city. But, still, it was not nearly as out of character as some fans seem to think, at least in my opinion.

@JordiGH One of the clues being that, in a previous season, it was literally a plan that she vocalized, but her advisers talked her out of it at the time.

@JordiGH The last 2 seasons seemed kind of rushed and so people are annoyed that some character actions weren't foreshadowed/developed as well as they probably could have been. Also, a lot of people seem to have missed all the clues that Daenerys was, uh, kinda power hungry and not entirely the noble liberator she believed herself to be, so when she burnt an entire city to the ground, killing roughly a million innocent people, they thought it was out of character.

@JordiGH @bartleby I've heard good things. We also should probably watch Season 2 of She-Ra, because we are basically adult children.

Now that we're done binging all 8 seasons of Game of Thrones, what's something equally unproductive my wife and I can do after our daughter has gone to bed for the night?

Should I introduce the "blocked_by" feature that allows to know if an account is blocking your account? #Poll

It would be only used in profiles.

    [ ] yes
    [ ] no

@tom79 No. It serves no benefit to anyone, except possibly harassers and people who want to bring Twitter-style "dunking" discourse to the fediverse (e.g., "lol, I trolled that guy so bad that he blocked me! olololol!").

@ShaunBartone This sounds good just from the description. I usually don't like the texture of veggie sausage, but I think it'd be less of an issue in stew or soup.

I'm torn about Drogon torching the throne, mostly because I'm not sure the degree to which dragons are meant to be intelligent. Are they just giant, firey dogs? If so, I find it hard to accept that he'd target the symbol of the throne instead of the guy who pretty obviously killed him mama.

Maybe I'm overthinking it, though, because I agree it was great to see the throne melt (even though they're basically rebuilding the same thing, minus bloodlines)

@allan Yeah, I suppose that's true. It'd be easier to not think about it, or even to deny it, but I guess my brain doesn't work that way.

A bit from column A, a bit from column B. I don't think democracy itself is a failure, but liberal democracies around the world are definitely showing some major cracks, if not full on collapsing. A lot of things are going to need to be dramatically restructured to solve the issues we face.

I'm trying to eat fewer animal products, but I so far refuse to switch to margarine or vegan cheese. I'm happy to drink oat or soy milk and dramatically reduce my meat consumption (honestly, I could probably go vegetarian, but for the strain it might cause in my marriage), but butter and cheese? I'm not yet willing to give those up.

The climate crisis is fake, he said. Follow the money, he said, as if there are a bunch of famously rich climate scientists and solar panel CEOs (OK, the latter is plausible, but not on the scale of oil executives).

Sometimes, selfishly, I wish I'd been born a few decades earlier so I wouldn't have to seriously content with the global climate crises and the utter failure of capitalism and liberal democracy.

I think it's Le Marche Walmart or something equally redundant, because the language laws apply even the trademarked names.

That's great! Hopefully my oldest will react the same way when her brother arrives in October. She's excited now, but it's also still pretty abstract, I think.
