@ThatGeoGuy That's probably accurate.

@FssOfDeath
They probably need to do that so the filling doesn't just slide right out, but you're right that it probably has the added benefit of removing the mushy part. If I ever happen to be near that restaurant (unlikely, but not impossible), I'll try it just to know for sure.

@thejovian This was my comment on the original, before I boosted it:
OK, this whole time I didn't think he was as "creepy" and "uncanny" as people were saying. I thought the trailer looked like it'll be a bad movie, but didn't find too much objectionable about the character rendering. But now seeing it side-by-side with your version, which is much closer to how he *should* look...yeah, the original version is weird and creepy.

@wyrddrgn This is why I like how Shadowrun and, to a somewhat lesser extent, Earthdawn, treat orks, trolls, etc. They're just a different sort of people, with a culture that might be different from humans (but sometimes not). They aren't inherently good or evil, unlike in many other fantasy games/stories. @vicorva

@GeoffWozniak Exactly. Giant pickles are gross. The texture is all wrong and the mushy middle crap usually lacks much flavour.

@sconlan Oh, sure, they lure you in with wall-to-wall capybaras, but the you read the original Japanese and realize it's anti-beaver propaganda all the way down.

I enjoy sandwiches. I enjoy pickles. I enjoy sandwiches with pickles on them. But this looks fucking gross, especially because the texture of a pickle that large will almost certainly be mushy rather than crunchy.

The pickle roll-ups, however, look tasty are an idea I need to try at home.

Why does the Sonic the Hedgehog live action movie exist? Who was asking for this. Who will the audience be? Why is Sonic an alien?

Why is it that hangover cures are so often worse than the hangover? Are people just pranking their hungover friends and family?
(No, I'm not hungover; this was inspired by something in the ol' Fact or Crap calendar.)

“In Scotland, we spit the word out – ‘property’. You can’t own the land, the land owns you. What I found in England is there’s such a lack of physical space, and it’s usually upper-class-controlled. England has never recovered from the Norman conquest. That deeply embedded class system is so divisive.”
Amazing story of how the hebridean island of Eigg fought back against their feudal lords and won, the island has belonged to its community for over 20 years now. Decisions are made by consensus and the cost of living is half of that of the average "affordable housing" in the highlands.

@ShanShen The leaves can be used in salads. The flower buds can be fermented and used like capers if you pick them before they've opened. The roots can be used to make a tea (I've never done this). I think the flowers can make tea, as well.
Last spring I made a simple syrup with the flowers, which was nice in cocktails.
Some people make dandelion wine. I'm not sure if you use the flowers or the roots for that.

Studies say 4 minutes of uninterrupted eye contact can increase intimacy. Unfortunately, 3 minutes and 59 seconds of uninterrupted eye contact is creepy as hell.

@ShanShen I would do this, except that I'm not sure what sort of chemicals might have been sprayed on the public lands.

It snowed again on the weekend. The first time, overnight on Friday/Saturday dumped a lot of snow, which pretty much all melted by Sunday morning. Then there was a damn blizzard on Sunday afternoon which, ironically, was nastier to be outside in but left a lot less snow on the ground. It seems to have snowed again overnight, but hopefully it'll all melt by the time I leave work. I want patio weather. I want to be on the deck with cold beverages and peanuts in the shell.

I finally started watching Our Planet with my daughter and, damn, watching that sea ice melt so rapidly in the first episode really drives home what we've done to our planet. I imagine the rest of the series is gonna be similarly intense. Next time, those poor walruses...
