@clacke You mean respected your browser settings and performed quickly?

@jim Could've been, there was no symbol on the sticker, but alabama's pretty far away. @gomerx Ah, so not quite day star then.
-
They had a sticker for a christian church in the area that I recognized too so it wasn't some cheeky satanist far as I can tell.
-
Okay so anyone who follows christian mythology (by which I mean the non-canon but generally accepted stuff, namely Paradise Lost)follow me? I saw a weird bumper sticker today and I want someone to back me up. Apparently there's a church around here called "Daystar Church"....isn't one of Lucifer's possible translations "The Day Star" or "The Morning Star"? I feel like somebody really didn't do their research.

An esolang called kavascript where the standard library is shit but there's an 'extended' standard library but every time you open a package from the extended standard library it bloats the interpreter's memory usage by a megabyte and by using the extended standard library you consent to emailing me a transcript of every program you run on the interpreter.

@dog One came out 3 days ago.
-
@quad I definitelylean heavily on email when describing it.
-
@bob I feel like that's still not quite "send us your nudes so our employees can look at them and something something protection from revenge porn"
-
@bob Not that I'm a big follower of mastodon, but that could very well be an issue of...presentation? Practically all of his complaints about mastodon, the substantive ones, amounted to "I have no idea what mastodon is supposed to do"

Has anyone ever taken a character creation utility and made an attractive looking person?
-
Bonus: the website is *still* up an *still* taking preorders. Basically it hits all the squares in sketchy kickstarter bingo

Home automation thing has me thinking about ethical hardware again (cc: @brenner I guess). Having thought more on it, you can, if you accept way higher costs, break out the problems of making the electronics themselves, but you aren't going to get around the problem of the components unless you go back to like...70's or 80's tech at best just because of conflict minerals.

Oh yeah and the investment plan is to sell minecraft servers in 2017. Not that I'm the kind of person to assume that investors *aren't* clueless, but minecraft servers in 2017? Do these guys not have any kids or grandkids or nieces or nephews to ask? Minecraft isn't exactly a growth market these days despite what MS is pushing.
-
Except there's no company with that name registered in delaware, there's been no working prototype found, and looking at the specs I'm pretty sure it wouldn't run a minecraft server well to begin with 2 years ago, it has the bare minimum of ram and a fairly weak CPU. Oh and it's been 7 months since the last update. If he wasn't lying about gathering investors I wouldn't be surprised if those investors start throwing the word "fraud" around...
-
Basically: dude's kids have an idea to sell easy minecraft servers. Holds a $15k kickstarter for it, gets $30k. Units supposed to ship christmas 2015. Then says they have the actual servers and they're waiting on cases, ships thanksgiving 2016. Then they go silent for 6 months and in may they're like "oops lol spent all the money, we're a startup now and got a million from investors. We're a delaware corp with this name and we're consulting with the founder of broderbund"
-
Aw man, looking over the Cringely Mineserver thing is a wild ride.
-
@brennen I think the competence angle is the way to go. The intent of the current administration is probably worse than the W admin, but it's less capable of achieving what it would like.
-
@lnxw48a1 I think whoever said it was saying that it was available in the instances.social API, but the API is broken and doesn't actually return all instances, far as I can tell.
