i actually think I would've felt less insulted if the training was unpaid, thinking about it. Just that $8/hr figure and then lowballing so hard for one of the most expensive areas in the country turned me way off.
-
They also had "paid" training that I'd have to do, at $8/hr, but not actually $8/hr because unless you happen to live in the random part of virginia their training was in you'd have to either find a place to live or pay them for housing. Not really a good look...

@lnxw48a1 What's inspiring that? I actually just had to turn down a recruiter because they pay they were trying to tempt me with was too low (wanted me to live in the DC area for non-trivially below the rate that a job in NC will get you.)

Heads up: tekk.in will be taken down on Friday, the 12th. I'm hoping on getting it back up late Friday, but it will be in a different location. It's moving from my appt in the mountains to my parents' house, so dns caching will probably break while the internet catches up.

@mmn Funny that you bring this up! A friend of mine at Uni who's now lecturing for a semseter actually did his masters' thesis on how to cryptographically verify multiplayer card games. I'm asking him now if he has a paper or anything similar: it didn't involve a blockchain, just some clever applications of existing crypto stuff, if I remember my discussions right.

@clacke @sir yes, and that's how you get Itanium. No seriously, that was what you were supposed to do with Itanium and nobody used it because it was such a pain in the ass to duplicate all the effort to get efficient pipelining in every compiler. Plus i wasn't backwards compatible.

So when do we get to have the reflection on how well representative democracy has done?
-
My only possible complaints are that it doesn't run on Linux (fair enough, japanese game,) and that there's a minor graphical bug on AMD graphics cards right now (Least I assume it's restricted to AMD, considering their driver quality) where particles don't line up with their emitters, so basically like, fire is sitting slightly *outside* of torches, thought bubbles aren't lined up with heads, etc.

My review of Okami HD in 500 characters or less: It's Okami. Okami is one of the best games ever made hands down. It doesn't add any bullshit that I can see. It's about as pretty as a remake 10 years later of a PS2 game should be and it's cheap. Yeah, you should buy it.

Could also be a dispensary, thinking about it.

Restaurant ideas: The Smoking Nug, a chicken restaurant where if you solve the mystery before your meal's done, the meal's free.

Some god among men seems to have uploaded the entirety of The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy to youtube.

@lnxw48a1 No, that would not happen. I was born and spent my first 9 years in NJ. The only thing gas station attendants did was pump gas. I can't speak for Oregon though.

Should the W3C even make standards anymore? I mean not that it does...

@richardgoodness Well the getting it to work part isn't necessarily as bad as you thik. As I understand it GOG often makes use of community patches for that, because there are *already* people keeping the mup to date. To bring it back to TA, there's now as of a few years ago a community 1.4 patch which adds a lot of engine features, really interesting stuff. Sadly you don't get it on GOG, but you can apply their patch to "official" TA.
