    Decentralize your world.

    There is of course #mastodon as federated social media.

    There is good old #email as federated postbox (as long as not everyone uses GMail).

    There is #peertube as a federated video platform.

    There is #Riot / Matrix.org as federated group messaging.

    There is #XMPP for federated 1on1 messaging.

    And there is #nextcloud as federated cloud storage.

    In theory most services are already federated. We only miss more users :)

    Hi! people at !fediverse

    Until recent dates we have a reference to federated GNU Social nodes at fediverse.org.

    As that domain it’s no longer available, I’ve recovered last update at Wayback Machine at archive.org (2/4/2018) and managed a little to publish most data here.

    On that date there was 228 federated nodes identified. 123 are still active at end of Mars 2018, 49 with open registration.

    Not sure about every data here, I’ve only checked wich nodes are active.

    At least we can have a reference to know active nodes and to search for accounts and people to follow

    @theaduditor People tell me that #hubzilla offers a more blog-like experience, and it federates with both the Diaspora Federation and the OStatus/ActivityPub Fediverse.

    It also offers a CMS-like mode, the homepage hubzilla.org is on Hubzilla itself.

    @tomatuordenador Ah I see. I think this is the same old known issue. People posting from outside of the instance that hosts the group cannot use the aliases. They can use the main handle of the group, but not the alias. By the look of it, this issue hasn't been fixed :-(

    I decided to promote some groups for the newbies, now that the spring might or might not be coming ;-) !fedgroups
    If you don't know what groups are all about or how they work, just ask!
    The !grow group is for exchange about growing whatever, gardens, balconies, a pot of salad on your window sill.. so if you grow anything or like to hear and see about it, consider joining.

    Since most of us have had enough with snow the !rain appreciation society might be worth considering. It's for people who like rain or who like to rain dance or like to get wet.

    The !sewing group is for people who like to sew, also for embroidery and related stuff. So if you want to share ideas or projects or just get inspired, this is for you.

    If you want to get people to know about your favorite groups, join in with the introductions in this thread. :-)
