@h Whatever the format the main aim should be to keep the implementation simple and comprehensible. I think half the reason why the semantic web never took off was because the RDF format was too complex for the average web developer.

Bob MottramIf there is to be any renewed attempt at a semantic web protocol then I think it should be greatly simplified. It needs to be something which an average web developer can implement, and not requiring knowledge of mathematical logic operators. Maybe the ontology could be in markdown, or something like that.
@h @ajroach42 The great irony of this is that the Spectrum keyboard was terrible for typing, even by the standards of the early 1980s. Other home computers from the same period had far better keyboards, such as the BBC Micro or C64.
@natecull @ajroach42 @enkiv2 Almost two decades on I think it's possible to safely conclude that the semantic web as conceived by TBL and implemented in RDF was a failure.
"Right now, there are a lot of very overworked, grumpy, sleepless, and just generally pissed off kernel developers working as hard as they can to resolve these issues that they themselves did not cause at all. Please be considerate of their situation right now"
@dwmatiz I havn't tested it yet, so report bugs if you find them. Also libgnusocial is being somewhat actively developed currently, so the names of functions may change.
