🎉 #PeerTube 1.4 released 🎉

This new release includes a basic theme & plugin system, allows users to upload audio files (PeerTube will create videos from them), has a better registration process, a clearer account video channels page and many other features!

This release also adds Finnish, Greek and Scottish Gaelic languages support to the web interface thanks to PeerTube translators!

I don't know what else you're referring to, but Fairphone has definitely not broken promises of providing degooglised Android.

They have it here for Fairphone 2, and they are still updating it too:

Yes, they said there will be an update released after launch which will let people replace standard Android with degooglised Android (just like Fairphone 2 already has).

It's only on sale in Europe but it is compatible with US 3G frequencies so it should work there. (They're not sure about US 4G compatibility yet.)

"Out of the box the phone comes with Android 9 preloaded. A post-launch update will make it easy for buyers to wipe Google services off their slate and install the Android Open Source Project instead."

"The updater will come post-launch, according to van Abel, who notes that around 5% of Fairphone users opt to go full open source."

I think they're having to balance paying a fair wage with keeping the price at a reasonable level.

In this situation, the only thing they can ethically compromise on is specs.

If they'd higher specs, it would have put the phone out of a lot of people's price range. If they'd used cheaper materials, it wouldn't have been fair any more.

As far as I know Fairphone is unique, but hopefully other manufacturers will take notice of what is possible.
