@maiyannah
Isn't she also your kinda matronly motherly one?
-
trying to think and explain things when head is this blurry is not my forte
-
@gameragodzilla
i dont disagree, im not really saying anything against that
im wondering, if you do that, is it still 'cosplay'
cos as you note, you did that for haloween, thats -you in a costume- you're more dressing up as "yourself -as- superman" rather than "actual superman"
so if someone goes to a convention wearing the characters outfit and nothing more, are they not really just cosplaying as "themselves wearing the characters outfit"?
whereas if they used makeup and the like to try and look like the characters face n stuff too, they're 'properly' cosplaying as that -character- as a whole?
-
@maiyannah
yeah, as noted in my post after.
there's like the people who use makeup and stuff to try and look like the character beyond the base costume, and those who dont.
with those who dont, isn't what you're cosplaying...yourself, in that characters outfit, rather than the character itself?
-
genuinely curious to be enlightened here, what's the purpose of it then?
cos there seems to be the level of "I did all the face makeup and stuff to look like the character on top of the costume"
and the level of "i look like -me- in that characters outfit"
and in the latter, you...don't inherently look like that character, so does that still count as cosplaying or?
-
I appreciate the creative aspect of cosplay, but I don't get the point of it when you look -nothing at all in any way like the character you're cosplaying-
-
@maiyannah

"I can't belive it took me this long to realize, he's British, so his name means Total Cookie. That's adorable."
I am internally screaming.

Give @maiyannah hugs.
She's lovely to me, wonderful wifey, so she deserves them.
All. Of. Them.

@camoceltic
Overwatch just gets away with it because it's a collection of tropes. I would assume most people like the look of at least one character in it.
Cos that's kinda the point. Who needs actually good gameplay when you have porn variety.
Elizabeth from Bioshock ain't particulary attractive tho :P
-
@maiyannah
I'm here for you dearest. Got your Katie.
-
Overwatch probably has more people getting themselves off to the characters, than it does people playing the game, for example.
-
Actually...is Rule 34 arguably an example of separating art from what it's linked to?
Not inherently splitting it from artist.
Just like...there's probably people who are into people from games they don't like.

@maiyannah
Inspired a generation of incest.
If only it was a sister kissing her sister.
I mean AHEM.
-
"Is it time for #StarWars to have a sex scene?"
You ask as though it's not one of the biggest rule 34 deposits in the universe.

I've always been told Buzzfeed is awful, and I assumed so, but equally sort of assumed that for a certain audience of teens, they'd hit a certain mark.
I don't know if that article, and how little it relates to me personally, proves or disproves my thought.
On one hand, I'm not a teen, course it doesn't relate to me.
On the other hand, maybe it doesn't relate to fucking anyone.
Or on the third mutated hand, maybe it relates to 90% of people, I'm just weird.

@maiyannah
Well, as I believe you've spoke to me about before, rough times like that are hard. You have to face the fact that in some situations you could have done better, or did make mistakes, while still also not letting that pull you down, because it was still an awful situation to be put in and not all your fault.
