"How about you have that character you're writing, ...sexually assault that other character..."
"Chris we've gone over this..."
"I'M THE BOSS, yknow that character development ya got there? CUT IT. Yknow the rapey thing? ADD THAT ON."
"Chris I don't think that's a good idea..."
"Are you...are you...my god...you're mistreating me! I MUST GO FORUM POST ABOUT THIS."
...is it obvious that cut content drama stuff really bothers me >.>

"Seems like the kind of thing he’d actually be competent at."
Heh.
-
@katiekats Was the fact that you make "dumb" jokes, itself a dumb joke?

Pick your shade of Chris Avellone!
Bad writer Chris?
Crying baby Chris?
Awful liar Chris?
Human-Kickstarter goal Chris?
"why didn't they let me write a rapist!" Chris?
As scummy as the rest of RPGCodex Chris?
YOU DECIDE! (Some choices may overlap, choice-maker discretion is advised)
-
@gameragodzilla
"Wonder if Chris Avellone worked on this game." That, my friend, is opening a can of worms.
The TLDR is he apparently did, and his names up there, Creative Lead during early dev (in his own words)
But then according to recent stuff with all that stupid drama, he barely worked on it at all and was totally dragged into it basically against his will (also in his own words)
Which Chris do you believe, the same guy or...the same guy.

@gameragodzilla
1. It's a dark side choice to a...stupid degree because. Well they only invite you there if you've done enough for them to think you're potentially on their side. So it's a bit "Totally got you all in one place! Just had to hand you a few victories, alienate all my allies, and...hm...okay maybe this wasn't a brilliant idea."
2. Ehh. The story is different but Tyranny is...tough to morally go on about. That's not to say the evil paths aren't evil cos they are, it's sorta just pick your shade of morally bloodthirsty, and the Rebel path is certainly the most 'good' one.
But...however you play it, it becomes a bit of a "giving an imperfect faction power."
-
Also by the way, the Conquest system at the start of Tyranny is the type of thing I hope more games do and...I'll be blunt, basically copy.
It was a very nice way to both explain what happened in the years before a story, establish your character a bit before you properly play, and give choices that they can later reliably call back to.
-
@gameragodzilla
You have to pick certain options during the Conquest stage at the start (the bit that's basically 'pick what you did in a series of choices')
Then after that, every interaction with the rebels, you have to pretty obviously *wink wink nod nod* "Sorry mate they just got away, no fault of my own" as much as you can.
If you do it all right, they'll eventually invite you to a secret meeting basically saying "You've been acting like a fucking obvious defector so does that mean you want to help us or?"
Which you can then agree to, and capture the fort at the end of the first act with them as your faction, rather than anyone else. ...Well I say capture, they have the fort, so it becomes a defense mission. Whereas with everyone else it's attack. ...If I remember right anyways.
I should note you can also literally go "No I just did this to get you all in one place" if you like, but...it doesn't make a whole lot of sense on your part ("I gave up multiple victories in the hopes of getting this one big one")
-
@maiyannah
As I think I've discussed with you before, the most interesting path in the game is the one it -hides away as a sort of 'secret route'-
Ironically for the game, it's also the only true 'good' option.
-
@maiyannah
...Tyranny has flaws but one of those flaws is not "particulary tough to understand plot."
...Hell it literally has words you can hover over to learn the meaning of, it's pretty tough to miss out on the core lore you need to know.
-
@maiyannah
Huh, who was that guy? (Sort of a morbid level curiousity)
Admittedly I'm subposting a guy named...shit, Cohhcarnage? I think. Watched a bit of him playing Pillars 2.
-
>Plays a story based RPG.
>Pays so much attention to chat that they ignore crucial story points.
>Gets baffled later on when the game brings up already established concepts.
>Blames the game.
WHAT DID YOU EXPECT STREAMER-MAN?
-
@maiyannah
hahahaha
-
@maiyannah
Yeah, there's quite a fine line there. I can respect people who actually care about the community they create, rather than cursing them all off Totalbiscuit style.
But paying so much attention to them that it's actively to the detriment of your playing the game -has the opposite effect-
Cos then you piss off your audience, saying stupid things, being confused, blaming the game for it, when it was your fault for not paying attention to it.
