Friggin Ian, Tycho and Katja, are better comps than most of them.

And they're fairly underdeveloped since they're from -the first Fallout-

(Not counting Tandi here cos I don't like her that much, and not counting Dogmeat cos...Dogmeat's a dog)

I will give you, Nick Valentine is pretty good. Even if I personally think he's a bit overrated.

And I do have -somewhat- of a soft spot for Deacon and Hancock.

But my liking of them is extremely surface level (liking the voice actor or the idea/trope they're going for) hence why they're hardly topping any major lists.

"Hey, you spent £500,000 on this house so...here's some bricks and wood. I know I know, you think that's shitty. But...hopefully someone will come along, bring extra materials and help you make this all into a mansion for free. Then you'll see it was all worth it!"

    This does not compute.

And just to finally finish off my silly postings no one actually cares about.

Please stop the argument "the settlement building deserves to exist cos even though it's shit, modding makes it better"

Modding can do a lot. By your argument companies should just make the most basic framework possible and sell that for £60 just so loads of modders can build it all from the ground up for them.

Yknow what I find mad about all this as well?

Hearthfire, for Skyrim? Generally well appreciated, even by fans.

It's like they already put in a sorta psuedo building thing, fans actually didn't mind it.

And Bethesda went "nah that won't do, lets put it in a series that'll piss off the fans."

If they put the building thing into the next Elder Scrolls, explained it as you being able to help settlements and forts (since they're all over the place, it's fantasy land) and it's an extension of the system in Hearthfire.

I genuinely believe most people would say yeah that's fair. Hearthfire was kinda liked, and this makes logical sense in the world.

Rather than yknow, managing to somehow build up giant towers, fully guarded, full houses, fully functioning protected towns in the span of a day or two -in a post apocalyptic wasteland-

    So instead it's in Fallout.

    It coulda been standalone.

If they were REALLY against that, it could have arguably been in Elder Scrolls 6 continuing from Hearthfire.

    But no, it's in Fallout.

And thus the above problem noted in my other posts, exists.

Imagine you're playing Wolfenstein, and then suddenly you realize that at least 30% of the game, is devoted to raising a pet, a floofy thing. By all accounts not linked in any way to the regular reasons you're into Wolfenstein for.

They announce DLC! Hooray, there's a bunch of it.

But most of it is based around adding more stuff to the floofy pet raising.

And the floofy pet raising? It's not even -that- good for those who like it. You can do a lot with it if you put the time in, but it's hardly the easiest to manage, it could have been optimized a lot better.

But hey some people like it despite that. So now there's a bunch of people in the Wolfenstein fanbase who want more of floofy pet raising. Floofy pet raising that means less of what you're originally playing for, and more cuddly cutesy floofiness.

Cos of that, they're probably gonna add more of that in the future, focus a lot more on expanding floofy pet raising.

So you, who enjoyed the times before floofy pet raising, can't say "hey I don't like this" because you'll be accused of gatekeeping.

Probably annoy ya, right? You just wanted to play some Wolfenstein and now they've added this whole new thing, that's pretty damn clunky, and not at all what you're into, and now there's a bunch of people saying that's precisely what they want in future installments, seemingly without any respect for the stuff before it.

That's what a whole lot of Fallout fans feel with settlement building, and a large part of why I personally am not at all a fan of it (or it's deeply entrenched defenders for that matter)

At the end of the day, comments like this always lead to accusations of gatekeeping and such.

But...people have to realize. Games have genres. Do different things in different ways. A -lot- of people don't play Fallout and never will play Fallout for clunky settlement building, so to quite a few people, the inclusion of this just took up loads of space in which the things they actually play Fallout for, could be.

I don't think anyone would mind if Bethesda had made another game in a different world, but they didn't.

So now there's some people who want more of the settlement building stuff.

Something that, they -could- in another life, have wanted to be it's own separate product. But since Bethesda packaged it in, they want out of Fallout.

They can like what they like, even if I and others disagree. But it's understandable for people to be bothered that these things have been pushed together.

Since now, because it's been pushed together. Whenever a Fallout is announced, there's always the justifiable fear from fans, that it'll include more building stuff. Something that those fans never ever wanted.

@gameragodzilla I really -hope- its good but I don't expect it to be.

Just Cause 3 was...as it was, and now 4 will be worked on, as noted, while they're -also- working on two other games.

I've seen people say the thing I'm commenting on, otherwise I wouldn't have commented specifically on it. I appreciate you trying to clarify, friend. But...good chance we've seen other people if you believe they mean something different to what I said. Cos i've seen people say the argument I cite, a lot, hence mentioning it.

Surely...make your point if they ban someone unfairly, because the person didn't do anything against the rules. That would -actually prove- they're abusing their power, cos they're fucking someone over who didn't actually do anything the service says they're not supposed to.

Breaking the rules and then saying "Bet I get punished for this!" is just...well...yeah? You're -clearly stating you know the rules- and you -still broke them- what else do you expect them to do?
