@dokuja Thanks, dokuja. I've hunted around hoping it was dumped somewhere in root somehow, but I think it just reset the xml file. It's really just a text dump with xml frame instructions, so I ought to have known better than to trust it with so much notes. It's just so handy, especially for command line mnemonics. But that's what happens when one is learning. From now on I'll rsync more and take notes in vim, haha. Thanks, this extundelete looks promising. I'll give it a go!
#Linux#MATE Query My compy crashed and had to reboot, after which Linux (systemd?) silently asked (no debug dump) if I wanted to let it try to fix errors. After, yes, it booted up fine... Except ~/.config/MATE/stickynotes-applet.xml has been wiped clean, without my recent compy notes! Any ideas how and where to restore that file? It's never done this before. Thanks heaps.
It's the little impediments that get us; such is the habitual ingratiousness of the mind. Tmux has an oversight in that it can't save sessions. With a little Pollyanna power, a frustration becomes an opportunity to learn a bit of scripting. Here's an example of how tmux sessions can be saved. https://superuser.com/questions/440015/restore-tmux-session-after-reboot
I've seen the chatter about the controversial new feature of Firefox called TRR. But few went into the nitty-gritty on exactly which values do what in the relevant about:config prefs. This page does a good job of laying out how, if, and what goes to CloudFlare or other DNS services via TRR. https://blog.usejournal.com/getting-started-with-dns-over-https-on-firefox-e9b5fc865a43
@fluttergirly :( Sad to hear that, Alayna. Maybe try mini-breaks? Cut out all other distractions you can, aside from the needful, and the rest diligently fill with things which make you feel refreshed. I hope you have good friends by you to help you... Regardless, please do take care...
@Cobalt Jinx, what. Iโm just about to give Tox and Matrix a go. Iโve been on Wire for a while, and for many it will probably be the most popular option. I like the cutesy poo stickers and such, and they arenโt too obnoxious. Itโs been reliable, very. XMPP is fine, with good reports, but so far Iโve not had anyone call me on it.
@meireikei@HerraBRE Societies descend into the authoritarian abyss when people start gainsaying what unions ought to restrict to their "purview". People went down that road here in the USA. Now most people here think universal healthcare is a fairy tale and mortality has taken a nose dive. Washing machines are grand perk when you have to clean for a family without one.
@notptr QQ has always been shoddy coding. Heavens know why. Probably overloaded with every snoop script known. Repeat after me: ๆไธฆๆฒๆไปปไฝๆฟ่ฆใ๐
This really is a delightful takedown of Ready Player One and the entire California Ideology undergirding it.
When societies slide from Horatio Alger to Orphan Annie / Slumdog Millionaire fantasies, it's an oft missed warning sign that the elites themselves have even given up on working things out.
@notptr The great thing about an open set script is there are always more to learn/invent. ^^, It's not hard to get on the PRC bad side these days, apparently. I'm permabanned from WeChat, QQ, and such for reasons I never did figure out.
