@tk I do so wish I could pin this. This is gnomic wisdom for coding a better life in general.
Thanks.

Be restrained, even cheerfully passive in most of your disagreements. Most things in code are subjective or can be improved later. Let them have it... then when you really need it, direct and assertive language from someone who doesn't normally talk that way can be as powerful as shouting
@asherah @wilbr I don’t speak Lingua Franca (European language), but it’s the old Mediterranean trading pidgin which spread the term east to Persia and if memory serves throughout many Indian languages. All variations on Franks/French like “farang” or “ferengi”. At the time, the crusades were in full rampage, as gangs of rich French boys would sack and steal this or that island for their clubhouse. They and the canny Venetian traders were the likely origin of it.
@fluttergirly Please put the food in hims dish!
@fluttergirly Me too... I hope they make delicious hunny.
CCTV propaganda is reaching the level of silliness
@salixlucida Oh, FFS...CCTV拉的稀讓我頭痛死囉。 And these 跟屁蟲 in Toronto... 🤦🏽♀️
「(中國)的名字比我的生命更重要」⋯ Well... at least they bloody well used some 正體字 for once!
@dirtycommo Oh, sorry. The one with buggy eyes going goo goo from tender feeling. (⁎⁍̴̛ᴗ⁍̴̛⁎)
And the girl who is making an approving or huggy O shape with her arms. Y(^_^)Y
I installed emoji even on my compy so sometimes forget they can be invisible. But old school emoticons are cute too.
@dirtycommo Mm...me? For reals? 🥺🙆🏽♀️ Thanks heaps! And likewise.
It is a strange thing when here, without the machination of AI or algorithm, there are more worthy human interactions than in most of the vast sea of Birdsite. Or so it seems!
@fluttergirly If they don’t make them, I’m sewing one.
@fluttergirly I want to squeeze all the Minecraft bees forever and am terrified of when they finally show up for me because then I would be able to build anything but giant hives and will rue any bee having mishaps or any stress or danger whatsoever...
🥵
I love them!
@amsomniac Oh, no, which one?
@dirtycommo Oh, do! For some reason Fahrenheit 451 is left off many reading lists, school or otherwise. There is a tinge of surreal to it; and the midcentury modern context (paper books) may not strike some as immediate in this era of even more disposable communication. But it is a manifesto for freedom and curation of the tangible word as a bulwark against totalitarianism with many creepy warnings imperative to our era.
@amsomniac Are these factions not mostly “ironic” *-chan jokes, however?
@dirtycommo Reminds me of the vignette in Fahrenheit 451 where the tv cast use insolvable social quandaries to theatrically gaslight Mrs. Montag into a pliant stupor.
this is a large percentage of my computer science assessment
The terrain used to be sacred.
Your house, the hill, the woods, the town. The distant tower or the mountain was the axis mundi. Over there, across the water or down the road was outside.
We've stripped away the sanctity from the land. Every place looks like every other place. Carefully antiseptically contrived and branded and marketed to be comfortably familiar non-places.
We worship abstract unrealities now. Untethered in time or tradition or ideology. adrift and amorphous and isolated and neurotic.
All the better to sell us single non-transferable use sacrements in disposable plastic packaging.
The only responsible reaction is to rebel against purity. Find meaning in ambiguity and individuality. Bind your days and seasons and hours in rituals and wards against the amnesia of capital.
@art Please teach me, wise one.
I’d like a nice banana split. And yet no one has ever made them quite like Morgan Freeman for our pal June Angela.
@luckyduck@bananachips.club @snowdusk_
@snowdusk_ @Iuckyduck Oh, good to know! Now I know what to feed you in com! But don’t you prefer them in home made? Otherwise get too stale.
