@dcgirl when you're ready, shoot the sound file over and I'll run it through the magic plug ins so you sound all pro
If your recording software supports plug ins, get the eval for Izotope's Ozone. That will do it
Run a stock "gate" which silenced between phrases. It's what Adam, and NPR use
Multi band compression gives you that thick sound as you can compress or expand different frequencies which gives you that thickness down low but keeps it from getting muddy
@tlhall 3 step process
1: Net Ants on Firefox to download a YouTube video
2: VLC allows you to extract the audio from a video file
3: Audacity to edit, clip and save the isolated bit
If it's a podcast, just drop it into Audacity
If that was your question....
@yukiame also @SecretAgentPaul has been quiet. We have a #JingleMingle to finish !
I've noticed a few do that here on NAS, but mostly it's tagged threads. Certainly easier now that the apps prompt handles when you type an @
The local feed here is busy enough to stick to threads with a decent number of active users most days.
we also have an IRC channel on Zeronode which is surprisingly active outside show days, even after NAS was set up.
@Lordimpala what is it ? I'm not up on guns. Only ever fired bolt action .22s and had a go on a 12 guage shot gun once with the BB size pellets. This was back in the early 80s when the gun laws were reasonable.
Now the average citizen is cucked. Not that we "need" to be armed......most of the time......
My other half, Kylie, was a small weapons trainer in the army reserve. She is far more qualified than I am.
@Brianoflondon @ned I'll do a 30 second edit for @PhoneBoy when I next get a chance.
Glad you liked it :-)
@Brianoflondon Sir @ned did the vocals on Number of the Goat. I did the voice at the start. We used a backing track.
I mixed and mastered it up.
A bit of a colab over SMS
Glad you liked it
When I found the backing track, dropped the goat screams in and first played it back, I had a little cry of joy.
@Lordimpala I do
That engine paint activates when it gets hot. The guys that make their own guitar effects pedals use enamel and bake it in a toaster oven. They are cheap and reasonably predictable with temperatures.
Anyway. Looks good. I'm showing my son your pic now
@Lordimpala what did you use to spray that ? Just out of a can ??
@Lordimpala correct. It's lean meat. Like really lean beef. Very healthy, cheap and a little kinder to the farm land than cows.
Not as flexible as beef. Easy to make tough if you do t cook it right, but the sausages are great, as are the burgers.
@Lordimpala I put the lintel in to replace the arch they originally had.
We moved the bathroom wall by a foot to give us a little more room so I've got hardwall blending in with the Gyprock wall sheeting. Lots of tape, cornice cement and sanding.
The back internal wall is out and sometime this week I will rebuild it to accommodate a new back door with louvred windows.
@Lordimpala 1900-1920s so old school hardwall
It had asbestos fibro ceilings, abs some lovely old plaster ceilings in the lounge and stairwell
They sheeted upstairs ceilings as well as the back of the house downstairs over the asbestos
I've ripped the old ceilings and fibro out, including the timber frames they put in. Instead I've hung steel channel and used Gyprock 600mm span ceiling sheets. I decided to go square in the corners rather than use a cornice.
It's come up ok.
@dcgirl how did the recordings go ??
Have you got over hating the sound of your own voice yet ?
:-)
@yukiame just like mini meatloaf on a stick.
I'm always wary of who's stick has been near the meatloaf
Kanga bangers !!! Made from real Australian Coat of Arms animals !!!
The others are skinless sausages on sticks. Also reasonably lean.

It looked a little less busy than the trim
So I'm going to stick a final coat on this evening. And I found a bit that needs a sand back that I missed
@Lordimpala interior wall.
Originally there were tiles and cement render, which I ripped off to the bricks and lime cement rendered and hardwall plastered
I had only rendered roughly to the edge and we were going to put a timber trim around the edge, but. I used vilaboard / cement fibro as a base, cemented around to fill in the bulk and plastered over the top with cornice cement and basecoat to finish it.
I prefer the old lime hardwall, but drying time is a couple of weeks before painting.
